"It is necessary to help others,
not only in our prayet in our daily lives.
If we find we cannot help others,
the least we can do is to not harm them."
~His Holiness the Dalai Lama

HHDL
BODHICITTA PRAYERS
With a wish to free all beings
I shall always go for refuge
To the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha,
Until I reach full enlightenment.
Enthused by wisdom and compassion,
Today in the Buddha's presence
I generate the Mind for Full Awakening
For the benefit of all sentient beings.
As long as space remains,
As long as sentient beings remain,
Until then, may I too remain
And dispel the miseries of the world

Thanks C.C. for this wonderful tag!

A new friend reminded me how important it is to understand and work within our physical and mental limits, and that it is important to let go of unreal expectations and false assumptions. With each year passing I note what I have been able to let go of, what new coping strategies I have adopted, and what still needs to be faced. So many disappointments chronically ill people have to face and get over...lost dreams, grieving for what they were and could have been. I value any contribution I can still make, to my family and to the world at large. It helps me to think that Fibromyalgia is like an ocean - calm one minute, wild the next. I find myself continually navigating through whatever conditions are present, being prepared to compensate for sudden changes, hoping to avoid 'rogue waves', but confident that I CAN survive them if/when they show up, because I have so many times before. I have found that acceptance with grace, instead of being a drama-queen saves energy, and is so much nicer for those around me...I have put them through hell at times, I have to admit. I have found that I can ask for help without feeling like a victim, I am more patient, less angry. And without denying or losing sight of what is real, I value being able to find the silver lining. I indulge myself ("because I'm worth it!" *wink*).
.

My curiosity (about people, animals, and lots of subjects like art and history) is easily fed by being here in Care2 and with the world at my fingertips via the 'web.
Bleak depressions and long dark nights haven't gone, but I do have more strategies for coping -participating in Care2 groups is one of them. Best of all, I've learned to love myself!

Gratitude, Challenges and Goals
I have been in pain without a break for more than a decade... everything I do hurts. I am grateful to those friends who patiently wait when I am missing, mistaken, lost in brainfog or slower than usual. *****I began learning to overcome negative emotions (still learning) when I had cancer 2 decades ago. During this time I found that MEDITATION improved my physical and mental health in unexpected ways, and still does. Same goes for YOGA breathing and postures which I use to correct and ease pain and discomfort. I understand my body better because of yoga.***Being able to SUPPORT and/or TO GIVE SERVICE to others is a wonderful opportunity that Care2 provides. IT FEELS VERY GOOD TO BE USEFUL! To be ENCOURAGED, LISTENED TO, and UNDERSTOOD are the jewels in the crown of having Care2 friends and contacts.
Thank you.

"Man can be the most affectionate and altruistic
of creatures, yet he's potentially more vicious
than any other. He is the only one who can be
persuaded to hate millions of his own kind
whom he has never seen and to kill as many
as he can lay his hands on in the name of

PETA Takes on McDonald's--McCruelty.com
TAKE ACTION:
"Their limbs are bruised and broken and sometimes even torn from their bodies... The terrified chickens try to right themselves, but they are helpless to stop the belt from moving closer to the killing blade that cuts their throats. Many will still be conscious as they are dunked into tanks of scalding-hot water"  Chickens feel joy, form friendships, and love to play. Their cognitive abilities surpass even those of dogs, cats and some primates. Chickens killed for McDonald's are slaughtered using an outdated method that results in extreme suffering. As one of the biggest sellers of chicken meat, McDonald's has the responsibility—and the ability—to reduce this abuse by demanding that its U.S. and Canadian suppliers use a less cruel slaughter method. I CERTAINLY COULD NOT SUPPORT THE TROOPS LIKE CHER HAS DONE BUT WE MUST NOT FORGET THEM OVER THE HOLIDAYS WHETHER WE AGREE OR NOT WITH OUR GOVERNMENTS POLICY ON THE WAR. GOOGLE AUSTRALIAN TROOPS HOW TO HELP OVER THE HOLIDAYS. AT LEAST REMEMBER THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS OR MEDITATION.
