As you may know, Care2 is participating in this year’s Global Action Forum™. The Global Action Forum™ differentiates itself from other philanthropic conferences in that its founding principle focuses on converting passion into action. The Forum aims to answer the question of HOW corporations, social entrepreneurs, impact investors, high-profile influencers, and nonprofit organizations can leverage their assets to build immediate movements of social action.

Empowering Women and Girls Through STEM Dinner, May 9
Answering President Obama’s call to strengthen STEM education and broaden the participation of women and girls in these critical fields, GAF is convening a dinner gathering of leaders and organizations May 9, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to explore how the business sectors, social entrepreneurs, non-profits, and the social leaders in entertainment and professional sports can play a role in creating a culture change around the image of girls in STEM, breaking the stereotypes of girls in STEM, and supporting and retaining women in the STEM workforce.

The Global Action Forum™, May 10-11
On May 10-11, 2012, the Global Action Forum™ (GAF) will host the world’s leading activists and philanthropists in an effort to influence lasting and positive global change. The event will feature leaders from the spheres of entertainment, sports, social enterprise, impact investing, businesses, and non-profits uniting to build real networks of sustainable and meaningful action. The Global Action Forum™ will examine a wide range of issues showcasing the high profile influencers, strategies, and partners who are igniting movements of change while calling the attendees to action.

Special Session: Social Enterprise & Impact Investing: Where Money Meets Meaning
Amplifying this global dialogue is Keynote Speaker Terry McAuliffe, serial entrepreneur, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee and recipient of the 2012 Global Action Game-
Changer Award; Amilya Antonetti, “voice of small business” on Fox News; Rachel Armbruster, launch manager of the LIVESTRONG campaign and author of Banding Together For A Cause: Proven Strategies for Revenue and Awareness Generation; Jennifer Mitrenga, senior vice-president of new initiatives and women’s philanthropy at Opportunity International; Robbin Phillips, co-author of Brains on Fire; Jeff Rabhan, chair of the Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music; Steve Stoute, entrepreneur and author of The Tanning of America: How Hip-Hop Created a Culture That Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy; Johnny Taylor, CEO of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund; and Gary Whitehill, founder of Entrepreneur Week and recipient of the 2012 Global Action Social Innovator Award.

The Global Action Awards™, May 11
On May 11, the Beverly Hilton plays host to the Global Action Awards™ (GAA), a gala that recognizes the unprecedented amount of power each individual has to solve problems, save lives and impact the future. The awards acknowledge those who have committed their talents, time, and personal and professional brands to inspire, accelerate solutions and amplify impact.

We hope you share our interest in these pressing issues and are ready to take your place in the marketplace of action. Your invitation to join the conversation and ignite your own movement of change is attached. Watch for agenda updates at globalactionforum.com

If yes, please continue reading this post.

In an effort to give our members the best experience possible, we need to begin removing messages that over two years old. Any messages that you currently have stored in your Private Message inbox (http://www.care2.com/c2c/pm/folder/inbox) that were created prior to April 9, 2010 will be deleted.

If you have messages in your inbox that are were created before April 9, 2010 that you want to keep, please move them to the Saved folder. Messages that are in the Saved Folder (http://www.care2.com/c2c/pm/folder/saved/) will not be removed. Starting in April, we will be removing messages older than two years on a regular basis. Please make sure to move any messages you want to keep into your Saved folder.

We want to give Care2 members ample time to save any PMs that are important to them. This can be done by clicking “Save” within the message itself.

We will be removing old messages on April 9, 2012.
