Slut shaming is a complicated topic for some people. Conceptually and logically, most people seem to understand that rape is wrong and that no one deserves to be raped. Nonetheless, every time a woman is raped, people feel the need to comment on (and even joke about) what she was wearing, how much she had to drink, what places she frequents and how many sexual partners she has. The media is guilty of this. Ad campaigns are guilty of this. Facebook groups and pages are guilty of this. The general public is guilty of this.
Rapists are to blame for rape. Not so-called “sluts”.
It is pretty simple really, yet most people find it incredibly complicated for some reason and slip back into their old rape culture ways. Maybe more people should listen to this thirteen-year-old explain what slut shaming is and why it is wrong. Perhaps they, and the 100,000 people who have already viewed her simple and compelling explanation, will finally get it.
What do you think? Can you take a page from her book and call out slut shaming when you hear it?

Most Drs. never see your child during an act so why do they think their advice is better? Three cheers…

Yes I think the stepmother was RIGHT. At least it was worth a try as it seemed to work. Will be interesting…

+ add your ownAnd I will agree with Marta E: this girl is smart, perceptive, articulate and much more sensible than many of our politiicans. If she lives up to this early promise, she'll be an amazing woman. This world should have more kids like her - we could sure use them.
A body clad in too few garments is like a wallet stuffed with too many notes:
no matter how tempting, NO ONE has a right to grab either.
Women who dress in so called provocative clothing may be distateful to some, but it doesn't mean that she is asking for it or deserves it.
This kid is awesome. Definately wise beyond her years. I approve.
Wow This kid is my new hero. What a strong young woman. Take note of her Im sure well see something else awesome from her in a few years.
Charles B, I completely agree that shame does have its place in society, but I dont think it has a place in regard to legal sexual behavior. Lots of things that were once seen as shameful are now laughed at. My grandmother, for example, would have rather been caught dead than seen chewing gum or going out without her knees covered. I worked with an elderly woman who thought open toed shoes were as scandalous as an orgy in church. I think this young woman is confident and assured because she has done the critical thinking and is, in fact, correct.
For those talking about how much she knows at such a young age, may I remind you that she is technically old enough to get pregnant. My generation knew about sex at her age too, but we werent allowed to talk about it openly. Instead of learning to deal with slut shaming and female sexuality in a positive way, I was learning bj tips from senior girls on the bus and hearing guys talk about how you couldnt get her pregnant if you drank Mountain Dew beforehand. Shutting kids up when they want to talk about sex is essentially the same as slut shaming. This is obviously an issue in her world, and she needs to be able to address it.
This young lady makes more sense than adults and is wise beyond her years!
Bravo. She brings back my faith and hope for the future of this country and its arcane and antiquated beliefs.

Rape is a crime of violence.
This very bright young woman is wise and mature. Punish the rapists. Don't further exasperate the situation by shaming the victim. NOBODY asks to be raped. If a guy is so driven to rape, if he has so little self-control, he should be locked away to keep girls and women safe.
This 13 yr old is incredibly intelligent, articulate and perceptive about misogyny. She's got good parents who have raised her to use her brain, not indoctrinate her, and use critical thinking. Her thirteen-year-oldness is endearing. Bravo to you, girl, and I think your video WILL change attitudes of those not as informed and perceptive as you. Thanks.
