I think we are due for another die-off like the great flu epidemic.
Jason R, we ARE on a decline, partly because we are still gobbling resources we don't have and pouring money into a military empire to have access to them, and partly because as others go higher on the scale, they catch up to us - and want some of those same resources. And our response is to hunker down and do more of the same (since it always worked before, right?) instead of recognizing what's happening, and changing our behavior to adapt and continue to do well. It's not too late to change us and our trajectory, but if we continue to "twiddle, diddle and resolve" without trying to change on a large scale, it won't be long before we start to fall behind.
I love the active data. Makes it easy to understand. If you split USA by class, I think you would get very different experiences.
I'm questioning the direction of american wealth and health. Doesn't it seem like we're on a decline?
