46664 Launches International Clothing Line
Life is about choices. What we choose to wear is one choice that we make everyday. Previously, I wrote about a better choice in athletic wear and now I want to introduce a better choice in mens and ladieswear.
46664, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, is launching an international clothing line later this year. The foundation began as a way to bring international attention, education and prevention awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa. To continue this campaign and other initiatives that support the icon’s mission for social justive, funding is vital.
Board member Achmat Dangor confirmed the brand is in no way a commercialization of Mr. Mandela’s name, instead it “will allow individuals globally to heed the call Mr. Mandela made at the 2008 London 46664 concert for ‘new hands to lift the burdens.’”
The 46664 apparel brand will begin with a 7 percent turnover rate and eventually grow into a 9 percent turnover. The brand will include pieces that should compete with other international brands while still maintaining its African roots in the design details. Beautiful patterns, bright colors and the signature hand print all permeate through the line.
The brand will launch in August of this year in Africa, and next year internationally. Pictures from the launch show beautifully printed shirts, luxe sweaters and colorful boxers that anyone would be proud to wear.
