5) The Re-Election of President Obama

There is of course one final important victory this week: the re-election of President Obama, a pro-equality President who this year became the first ever sitting POTUS to officially back marriage equality.
Obama’s administration has vowed to continue working toward fulfilling America’s promise of equal treatment under the law, and we look forward to witnessing that manifest in, for instance, perhaps finally seeing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act become a reality.

Thank you!
ooooh
good stuff, thanks!
this is great news, hopefully we will all only progress in our thinking and acceptance of life, love and learning
Interesting.
Congratulations and God bless from Canada for all of you that would appreciate that, what wonderful results, and hopefully more peace and justice even to come. Just a reminder that there are Christians and those of other religions who marry equally in Canada and all the states in the US where we are permitted to, that not everyone's theology agrees that God only approves some people's love as right and good; many religions see normal variations in orientation as part of God's tapestry of creation. In the US, I know of the United Church of Christ and the ELCA. LGBTQ people in our communities deserve all the rights and priviliges that any of us have, and shouldn't be having a struggle, but of course, they are, all the time.
Oh, Wow, I thought this article was going to be about the Marriage Equality laws - I didn't realize that so MANY Gay Legislators were elected! I only knew about Tammy Baldwin! Thank you for this article!!! All this, AND the Marriage Equality laws!!!
Shows that ALL THE MONEY SPENT BY THE RIGHT WING - WENT FOR NOTHING.
And, you should know that THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SPENT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF ITS PARISHIONERS' MONEY - sometimes perhaps their Parishioners weren't aware of it! - the Catholic Church spent MILLIONS to defeat Marriage Equality in four States!!! Just THINK if the Catholic Church had spent even a portion of that on RELIEF FOR SANDY.....
It has also been said, that President Obama being elected for a SECOND term, is even more significant than his being elected for ONE term; it isn't just a "fluke"or an "anomaly" that a Person of Color can now be accepted as President of the United States.... and a real supporter of LGBT Rights can also be elected... which never happened before!!!
Great steps forward and hopes for many more positive steps in the future.
And the 4 state that made strong statements on marriage equality.
