Actor Kevin Alejandro: It Gets Better (VIDEO)

Actor Kevin Alejandro: It Gets Better (VIDEO)

Actor Kevin Alejandro has recorded a message for the It Gets Better project in which he stresses to LGBT teenagers and anyone that is being bullied that the world is changing and things really are getting better.

Alejandro, who recently appeared asJesus Velasquez in HBO’s supernatural drama True Blood, recounts that when growing up in his Texas hometown young LGBTs could not be open about their identity because they feared being ostracized or being bullied.

Alejandro says that things have changed and continue to change at a rapid pace, but it is important not to give bullies the power they crave and to seek help from the Trevor Project or supportive adults if you are facing a hostile situation because there are people just waiting to give support and comfort to those who need it.

He also adds, “if you stick around to watch that happen we’ll all be better because of it.”

This is one in a series of PSAs recorded by the True Blood cast, with videos fromAlexander Skarsgard,Kristin Bauer, andAnna Paquin amongseveral others.

Don’t Suffer in Silence, Get Help

The Trevor Project runs a 24/7 helpline with trained counselors ready to listen if you or someone you know would like to talk about the issues dealt with in this post.

The Trevor Project Helpline number is 1-866-4-U-TREVOR (1-866-488-7386).Trevor Project Links:

I nver knew who Kevin Alejandro was until today, but I'm glad he's speaking up on behalf of others for the benefit of others. Bravo!

For those that don't speak Spanish, Pedro C. said "as long as the Trevor project continues to help young people in trouble, it's an idea that deserves to continue and have the support of authorities and citizens". I agree since young GLBT people are at much higher risk of bullying and suicide than other segments of young people.
