Actor Kevin Alejandro has recorded a message for the It Gets Better project in which he stresses to LGBT teenagers and anyone that is being bullied that the world is changing and things really are getting better.
Alejandro, who recently appeared as Jesus Velasquez in HBO’s supernatural drama True Blood, recounts that when growing up in his Texas hometown young LGBTs could not be open about their identity because they feared being ostracized or being bullied.
Alejandro says that things have changed and continue to change at a rapid pace, but it is important not to give bullies the power they crave and to seek help from the Trevor Project or supportive adults if you are facing a hostile situation because there are people just waiting to give support and comfort to those who need it.
He also adds, “if you stick around to watch that happen we’ll all be better because of it.”
