Utility companies get a lot of grief from renewable energy advocates these days. Most power plants in the U.S. run off of coal or nuclear energy, two fuels that have repeatedly been shown to be dangerous and hazardous to human health. Like most elements of our infrastructure, utility companies are happy with the way things are, and resistant to change.
In a recent poll conducted by One Block Off The Grid, customers of the 10 biggest power companies in America rated their energy providers along several different criteria, including how much their utility was doing to support renewable energy production. The results are something a typical school kid would hide in their backpack.
In general, those who had a utility that was helping them buy or produce green energy were more satisfied overall. Are you listening utility companies?
