Ileana Jiménez has been a leader in the field of social justice education for the past 14 years. She is the founder and sole blogger at Feminist Teacher. Starting in 2011, Jiménez will be researching issues of gender and education in México as the recipient of a Distinguished Fulbright Award in Teaching. In 2010, the Feminist Press named her one of their 40 Feminists Under 40. In 2009, she was named one of the 40 Women of Stonewall by the Stonewall Community Foundation for her work in social responsibility, philanthropy, and activism. Jiménez frequently leads presentations on inclusive curricula and is the founder of the New York LGBT Independent School Educators Group, providing educators professional development and networking opportunities. For the past five years, she has served on the board of the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, which funds social justice LGBT groups both in the U.S. and internationally. Jiménez is a graduate from Smith College where she received a BA in English Literature.She also holds an MA from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English.
