Bachmann: God Gives Us Disasters To Tell Us To Cut Government
Earthquakes, hurricanes — these growing natural disasters have nothing to do with the man-made changes to our climate. In fact, the only thing they have to do with man is his inability to spend within his means as a government.
Or so claims presidential candidate Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. Speaking at a rally in Florida, Bachmann claimed God was sending the U.S. a message that big government spending can’t go on forever and implied that the disasters will continue if D.C. doesn’t clear up its debt.
According to the St. Petersburg Times, Bachmann told attendees, “I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending.” When asked about the quote later, Bachmann’s campaign claimed she was just kidding.
Well, at least she didn’t blame it on gay marriage.
