Christie Tells NJ Mom To Mind Her Own Beeswax (VIDEO)

71 comments Christie Tells NJ Mom To Mind Her Own Beeswax (VIDEO)

“It’s none of your business.”

That was Governor Chris Christie’s characteristically rude response when a New Jersey mother who identified herself as Gail said:

“You don’t send your children to public schools. You send them to private schools, so I was wondering why you think it’s fair to be cutting funding to public schools?” the woman asked.

Christie’s response was the above-mentioned phrase:

CBS 2′s Marcia Kramer show the clip to residents of Teaneck who, says CBS New York, “were appalled at the language coming out of the governor’s mouth.”

Christie notes that he and his wife have chosen to send their four children to Catholic schools because “we believe a religious education should be part of our kids’ everyday education.” Fair enough. But then, despite his getting all huffed-and-puffed-up about discussing personal matters such as where his children go to school, Christie offered some private info, namely, that he and his wife pay $38,000 in property taxes, dollars that (alas) go into the salaries of public school teachers whom Christie has turned into Public Enemy #1 here in New Jersey.

Personally, I’m getting a bit deaf to Christie’s bombastic, defiant, offensive remarks. They do make for great sound bytes and appeal to those who think just knocking some heads (figuratively) around is the way to knock some common sense into wasteful spending practices that have caused a budget shortfall in New Jersey. More troubling to me (as a New Jersey taxpayer myself) is Christie’s muddying of “personal” and “public” matters. I mean, c’mon, this is the governor who used a New Jersey State Police helicopter and a State Police SUV to transport him and his wife to see their eldest son playing a baseball game for his (Catholic) high school and complained about having to pay the tab. Surely he wasn’t thinking that NJ taxpayers should pick up the cost for his private expenses?

He is a selfish guy, who thinks he should be entitled better than everyone else.

No one ever has to say it but you always know whether a poster is Democratic or Republican. Republicans are always angry and have an attitude of entitlement. With them, there is no gray area, it's repub way or the highway and if you don't choose their way, you get called names and treated like you're a complete idiot. They will set this country back 50 years and I'm so tired of reading about the crap that's spewed by the republicans and wish they would go away.

The hypocrisy of republican posters is astonishing. Christie is forgiven for using public resources (at taxpayer expense) to fly to his son's games, but Obama is castigated for flying with Secret Service protection to political events (for which he and his campaign committee pays all costs). Now, I ask you fine right wing folk: why couldn't christie have driven across his tiny state to LOCAL ball games?

Diana D. So why is it ok for Christie to use the helicopter to go to his son's ballgame but not ok for Obama to use it for personal reasons, sounds like quite the double standard.

Don't assume that I would do something ignorant like blaming Bush for anything Obama did. There are a lot of conflicting opinions as to WHO screwed up the economy and they are just that.... opinions. Republican supporters will blame the Democrats and the Democrat supporters will blame the Republicans. The problem really lies in integrity, there is such a lack of it these days, nobody knows who is really screwing them over.

YOU TUBE has taken the video down. I wonder if the governor had anything to do with that. Probably.

Amanda: Not vote him out of office, RECALL HIM, as is starting to be done in other states where we have these insane Repukelican/ T.P.er Governors who are for the top 1.5% of the richest in their states.

I watched this persons response to the woman in the audience and was appalled at his rude answer. He could have taken the high road and answered in a p9olite way by saying his children went to Catholic school. But no, he showed his boorishness by answering in his rude way. It also shows he is ignorant. We can only hope he never becomes president. He is the last thing we need representing America to the rest of the world. He is crude and ill mannered, lets hope his children learn some humility, manners and respect from their teachers, we know their father never did.

Believe me, the Republicans--including Christie--are digging their own graves. They were elected on promises to improve the deficit and create jobs. They have done neither. They have, instead, concentrated on taking from the poor and middle class (what there is left of it) and helping the rich. The American people are not stupid. They know when they've been had. This too shall pass--if they don't destroy the country first.

Patrick F: Regarding New Jersey's former Governor Corzine, I didn't go into specifics as to what he did during his administration which resulted in the financial mess we are in now as one would assume if you were interested you could research it yourself. Just the tip of the mess I did mention which was he was dating the Labor Union President, paid off her mortgage so one can imagine what conflicts that caused.
Regarding elected officials having to make "sacrifices": Our governor works, actually works so if he wanted to see his son play, I say good family guy. However, I do question the Obama's taking frequent vacations which most of it we pay for, M. Obama having to take several dozen staff members just to get her ready for the day and her husband using tax payers dollars to jet around for his fundraisers. Even while he was campaigning, he took his senate salary. This was a hint as to the financial mess he would get us in. And don't bother writing- it was Bush's fault.

7:36PM PDT on Jun 22, 2011

Ok Diana D. So now only the little people have to make sacrifices to take a certain job? Too bad about his son's game, he made a choice the same as the rest of us. Where's my helicopter? Is the governor a volunteer job? Why should taxpayers pay for anything personal when they themselves are not entitled to the same? You are very specific defending this oaf but very vague describing "how" the former governor "tired" to bankrupt the state. Maybe it is better to spend more money on "eduction" eh ?

This guy is the biggest baby in the world. Elected officials are going to answer tough questions from their constituents. Instead of giving a sincere answer, he gets all butt hurt. He needs to learn to deal with it or resign. Christie lives on the taxpayers' dime. He needs to practice what he preaches and work in the private sector. But he's a user and a thief, stealing from our children and lining his millionaire buddies' pockets. He's disgusting.
