Cute Animal Video of the Day: Disabled Kitty Saved from Euthanasia, Thanks to Robotics Class

Flipper the cat was born with a defect that twists her spinal cord, preventing her from using her back legs. Unfortunately, this put her on the short list to be euthanized at the animal shelter.

Enter the Conifer High School Robotics class. They stepped up to create a spiffy device that allows Flipper to frolic to her heart’s content. The hope is that with the help of this contraption, Flipper will one day walk on her own.

One of the students sums it up pretty well: “I love cats, I love building things, so the two come together, and that’s great.”

I love this story. And you know what? That boy is really special himself. I like to see compassion in youth today. Our world needs a lot of it. The more love the better! I bet he makes something great of himself. He already has a great start. Now you see the disabled cat just gave the teenager an opportunity to create something amazing. Keep up the good work!

Wow! Isn't this wonderful. In the video you can see her trying to use her back legs ... maybe they hope this will strengthen the legs so she can use them on her own ... love the kid's quote: "I love cats & I love building things ..."

Awesome work! So sad that people are willing to sentence an animal to death so easily. All it takes is for someone with superior intellect (ie the teenagers that came up with this device) and a life can be saved. I wish flipper a long and happy life full of running and frolicking!

How wonderful! Such a pretty cat. Animals with dissabilities deserve the same care and treatment as humans, after-all they are loving. feeling animals. They need our help, not to be put down because they aren't perfect.

We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic cat. Flipper will be that cat. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster...

$6 million cat. But in all seriousness it's great that Flipper now has a chance. I would adopt him if I could. Hope he finds a great home.
