Daily Cute: Kittens These Days with Their Technology

Daily Cute: Kittens These Days with Their Technology

On Care2, we talk a lot about the unhealthy addiction to technology that has become engrained into our culture. It’s a very serious problem, and it’s gotten to the point that children are going to therapy to cope with iPad withdrawal symptoms. But oh gosh this little kitten using an iPad is just so freaking adorable.

@Clarissa E.: AGREED!! Although such extinctions mostly happen in 'virgin-field' situations, where the cat has only just been introduced, and in recent times, countries such as Austrailia and New Zealand have managed to successfully remove creatures such as rats from islands within their territory to protect flightless species such as the Kiwi, Kakapo and certain kinds of lizards....

I'm with Mary B. and a few others that don't feel technology is all that healthy - for humans or other living creatures. For one, I'm concerned about the little kitty's eyes being so close to that screen. Then there is the issue of either boredom and/or frustration setting in. My furry friends love chasing "Mr. Tickle" - feathers on the end of stick. They can touch and feel, bite it and fight until either they or I give up!

Mary B. I don't think cats really need to be better hunters. Actually, they are naturally, instinctually, such good hunters that they have eradicated entire species of birds. Domestic cats have a negative impact on whatever environment they're in for the fact that they are such effective hunters, which is why many cats live indoors only. There's zero need to sharpen their skills in this regard.

The kitties are very cute and our kitties love to watch the tropical fish tank screen saver and their videos on our tv.

It seems that the mother was there too....so I have to assume that the humans were not responsible enough to have her spayed to prevent litters ....when millions of kittens just as cute as those are euthanized every year for lack of homes. Shame on them!

I just don't think this is such a good idea. Trying to catch something that can't be caught, and even when you get your paw right on it, it gets away. Confused kitty may not be a good hunter.Techno stuff dumbs humans down, will it do the same to pets? It's about not developing accurate muscle memory and there is no satisfaction in getting a result.

Intriguing, some 'sit down' play. Teaching the young ones to become video couch cat-paw-tatoes? Petra B worries that the electronic device would cause damage to the kittens by radiation, etc., which is entirely possible if used for hours on end. No doubt the kittens enjoy a lot of running about chasing each other and playing with toys as well.
