Daily Cute: Lovebird Gets Dressed Up for the Weekend

Daily Cute: Lovebird Gets Dressed Up for the Weekend

It seems that even birds have their own sense of style. This lovebird decides that she wants to look wonderful with long, white tail feathers. Problem is, she doesn’t have any — but that doesn’t stop her.

She’s very good at taking strips of paper and making it part of her own outfit for the weekend.

Check back daily for more adorable animal videos.

What a cute video. I had never seen this behavior before. Thanks for sharing.

That bird cuts straighter lines with her beak than I do with scissors and a ruler! This is an awesome video, regardless of the real reason for the behavior. I guess everyone species likes to make a good impression on the opposite sex.

Carol P: Birds as pets is not terrible, depending on the bird and as long as they are not just cooped up in a cage, but are allowed to fly around their home. As we humans continue to destroy natural habitats, it is good that many are willing to give them an exciting substitute, perhaps with some bits of the real thing. To me, the worst thing people do is clip their wings so they can't fly. It's as bad as declawing a cat.

Interesting.

I didn't know that this was a part of their nesting tradition. Cool to learn. But I still don't like seeing birds kept as pets, far from being anything close to their natural habitat.

Lovebirds to this as part of the nesting ritual. It has nothing to do with LOOKING GOOD. I have 8 and watch them do it all the time. Do not leave a newspaper within reach or you will have to reassemble it with tape to read it. ;-)
