I've checked out Kaleo. My first thought was that the photo under the heading was the 'wrong' kind of mynah. I've never before heard of a Common Indian mynah talking, but it turns out that's what Kaleo is! I had a link to the other mynah species, but lost it. :-( Basically the bird is entirely glossy black, with rather more bare yellow skin on the head.

Re the usual remarks about pet birds in captivity. I watched another video of Kaleo, and it seems he was rescued from the wild. @ Primasick, I understand you releasing your rescued birds, but neither of us knows the circumstances regarding Kaleo. I believe that in some countries where these mynahs have been introduced, they compete with indigenous birds, and it could be illegal to release him. It would be in the UK anyway.

how dear

@ Jennifer H. You are right about the time frame, especially as I'm unsure about Kaleo being the usual species of talking mynah. That's a Common Mynah in the photo, and Kaleo seems to be the same species too. (bird book coming out tomorrow.)

The Hill Mynah is the usual talking bird, and it's all black except for the bare yellow skin.
