Welcome to Dispatches, your round-up of the latest news from the frontlines of the War on Women. Have a story from your state or an idea on how to push back? Share them here and fight back against the War on Women.
Was there anyway to miss the news that the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act in its entirety? I mean, unless you were watching Fox News or CNN, of course. The immediate weight of the decision is kind of hard to process. There are stories like Cordelia, for example. Or Erin Kotecki Vest. Or the impact the decision will have on our educational system. Yes, we’re offering our assessments of the decision real time, but the reality of what happened today won’t be fully understood for decades.
Men’s rights activists totally miss the point of the Affordable Care Act, but that’s no surprise, right? I mean, of course it’s a bad law since it covers contraception for women but not for men. Umm. Seriously. That’s why they don’t like it.
Rush Limbaugh, determined to keep somebody’s attention, told listeners that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has deep ties to the “Muslim Sisterhood.”
Now that we’re tackling this health care issue finally, how about we turn our attention to student loan debt?
House Republicans made history today by voting to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress in connection with the “Fast and Furious” debacle. For those keeping score, so far the specific cabinet and/or advisers that the Republicans have targeted have been: Van Jones, Shirley Sherrod and Eric Holder. Anyone see a trend?
As the Catholic Church buys up more and more hospitals women will have fewer and fewer places to go for reproductive health care.
Julian Assange could be arrested today to finally answer questions in that pesky rape case he keeps dodging.
This is helpful: a list of the 7 most anti-gay U.S. Representatives.
More helpful: the Military Spouses Equal Treatment Act of 2012 which would give gay and lesbian service members access to spousal rights and benefits.
Minnesota’s marriage amendment title was announced and it is full of awesome.
Lastly, Title IX builds champions.
Thanks for checking back and don’t forget to send in your stories, suggestions and comments. We’ll be back each weekday with the latest in the best and the worst from the War on Women. So long as the battle rages, we’ll cover the latest, so please check back!

By some of the babble here I would presume that the USA hands out medical degrees in cereal packets.…
This is a step in the right direction but, make no mistake, it is just a baby step.

+ add your ownAnother liberal in denial. Not an uncommon thing, I've observed.
Why don't you be honest for a change? Just admit that you feel taking from the people and businesses that have the most money and wealth and then giving it to the people who have the least money and wealth is not only acceptable, but mandated by your political philosophy.
That IS what you liberal/socialist/progressives believe, isn't it?
Roller C, you didn't prove shit.
You did provide us with evidence that you think liberal = communist. I suggest you abandon that fundamental misunderstanding.
The decision was a landmark in America's history. If you're honestly investigating the differences between the liberal vs. conservative mindset, it just doesn't get any more illuminating than the KELO Decision.
And if that decision didn't open your eyes, then you obviously prefer darkness.
David:
No matter how many facts I hand you on a silver platter, you will probably never 'get it,' but since I'm just killing time waiting for my wife to get home, I'll play with you a bit.
I can easily prove that your (falsely) revered liberal/Socialist/Marxist/Progressive/Communist/leftist heroes are fundamentally wrong on 9 out of 10 issues. This is only ONE of those issues, but it is highly indicative of the liberal mindset. It's worth remembering when you once again start spewing out your "Liberal=Good, Conservative=BAD" mantra.
KELO vs.City of New London
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelo_v._City_of_New_London
QUOTE: "On 23 June 2005, the Supreme Court, in a 54 decision, ruled in favor of the City of New London. Justice Stevens wrote the majority opinion, joined by Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer."
Recognize those names? Yep, the LIBERAL judges. Those champions of 'judicial activism.' :D
The CONSERVATIVE judges? Well, they all voted NO, as the Constitution requires.
For those of you that hate reading, I'll condense: The decision was perfectly delineated along liberal vs. conservative lines. The "Supreme Liberals" are forever on record as siding FOR land confiscation of an individual's private property for the monetary gain of a few individuals, while the conservatives proved that they understand the words written in the Constitution and voted AGAINST it.
The decision was a landmark in Ameri
Roller, compared to the Republicans the Democrats are like angels. They should check their backs for little wings to be sprouting up.
Rachel Maddow doesn't feed us lies. She has one of the only factual objective news-opinion programs on the entire TV. It is telling that you do not recognize that fact. And NPR is far more factual than Fox "News". None of right wing information sources are honest. They are pure misinformation.
David K:
If you truly wish to enlighten people and not just bore them to tears (or disinterest), you're going to have to get off the "Republicans---Evil...Democrats---Good" mantra. It's FALSE. You know it... I know it. Anybody that has been paying attention knows it. Both parties are full to the brim of people that will do and say ANYTHING to get elected and keep on living like kings and queens. That's their overwhelming, primary goal, but we don't have to believe it, now DO WE?
And please don't be like the buffoons that watch nothing but Fox News on their TV's and think they're 'well informed.' They're NOT, and neither are the people that feed themselves a steady diet of NPR and Rachael Maddow, Chris Matthews and all the other liberal talking heads that feed us lies every single day.
Politicians in general are EVIL; they don't have the best interests of the American citizens in their hearts and they NEVER will. The sooner we realize it, the faster our REAL problems can be solved.
Until that point, it's just a slightly different version of the weak-minded people whose lives revolve around cheering for their favorite professional sports teams.
So much ignorance in these liberal, idiotic posts...yet so little will to argue with the happily deceived on my part... but I'll try.
All you liberals would do well to look beyond your narrow viewpoints and do the tiniest bit of research before pontificating on the "wonders of socialized healthcare." If you did, you'd see that what I write is TRUTH. Keep reading:
FACT: The largest insurance companies WROTE the majority of "Obamacare." The day after the Supremes deemed it legal, insurance companies stock prices SOARED. Why do you think this is? How many of you are foolish enough to think that you're really "sticking it to those giant, heartless insurance companies."???
Do any you empty heads and bleeding hearts realize that you've been DUPED?!!!
Of course I didn't mean to say that Representative Giffords was assassinated, only nearly assassinated.
Roller C is a piece of work. His avatar is the cross hairs of a rifle scope. He calls it "His peace sign". We know that representative Gabby Giffords was assassinated after Sarah Palin depicted her congressional seat in the cross hairs of a rifle scope.
He calls the Affordable Care Act socialism. He is wrong through and through. The Affordable Care Act preserves the insurance industry's undeserved role in health care, And it preserves the for-profit health care services industry. This is hardy an act of socialism.
Many of us wanted the parasitic insurance industry removed from the health care equation. If we had accomplished that goal maybe Roller's claim would have some validity. But, as it stands, the Affordable Care Act is not socialism, not even close.
I want my tax money back that paid for the Issa investigative witch hunt...for the no nothing do nothing tea party Congress. And for the Government health care given to the Republican lawmakers who don't want the same care for the middle class and poor.
