With a 22 month gestation period, it’s safe to say elephants are seriously invested in motherhood. IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) recently released a video of IFAW Elephant Expert, Dr. Cynthia Moss, describing elephant motherhood.
Dr. Moss has spent more than 40 years studying African elephants. She has published numerous books and scholarly articles on elephants and four television documentaries for BBC and a 13 part series on Animal Planet.
When you start to study the living habits of these gentle giants, it’s not difficult to see why they deserve and need protection from those humans who want to kill them for their ivory and enslave them for circuses and zoos. Join IFAW’s Say NO to Ivory campaign.
