Free Entrance To National Parks In Honor Of Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, the National Park Service (NPS) has announced special no-fee days for November 11 – 13. This means that this weekend, the NPS  is not charging entrance fees at more than 100 national parks that normally charge admission. You can find a list of these parks by clicking here.

These are the final-fee-free days for 2011, but here you can see a list of fee-free days for 2012, and start making plans to visit the great outdoors then.

In addition, the  U.S. Forest Service is waiving all fees today, to honor our veterans. Get outdoors, bring your family and celebrate our nation’s heroes who have worked so hard protecting and defending our lands and communities.

And take along a copy of my book Get Out! 150 Easy Ways For Kids and Grown-Ups to Get Into Nature and Build a Greener Future, where you’ll find plenty of action-packed ideas, to help you make the most of your trip!

I love hiking in nature. If I lived in the U.S., I'd certainly take advantage of this opportunity. :)
