Gillibrand Gives A Hand To Women Candidates

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has made it clear that advancing the prosperity and opportunities for women, both in the political scene and in the country, is a number one priority with her. Her “Off The Sidelines” project has been met with acclaim for getting women involved in leadership on all levels.  And now, she’s turning her attention to helping women get reelected in Congress.

Sen. Gillibrand drew attention this week as she sent out a fundraising plea on behalf of New York Congresswomen Louise Slaughter and Kathy Hochul, two Democrats believed to be in danger due to the state’s redistricting maps.  “Kathy and Louise are going to have tough re-election fights this November, so I hope you’ll join me in supporting them today,” the email read. “These are two of our most dedicated public servants in Congress, working hard for their constituents day in and day out. If they come up short this month and lose in November, it would truly be a loss for our great state and women everywhere. We simply can’t let that happen.”

This isn’t the first time Sen. Gillibrand has raised money for female candidate, or even for Rep. Hochul.  Gillibrand, a former state senator, also used her impressive email list to fundraise for Hochul during her contentious special election race in 2011 as well.

So will Gillibrand be focusing on other women candidates in 2012? If social media is any indication, there are a few more women who may be getting her generous assistance down the road as well.

She should tell all the prostitutes to leave New York state and move to Massachusetts and tell them to write letters and make phone call to our Massachusetts state represenatives and state senators and tell them to legalize prostitution in Massachusetts. She should tell all the labor unions to go to Massachusetts and lobby to get prostitution legalized in Massachusetts.

If more women don't realize that their rights are speedily being taken away by the narrow minded politicians and don't act by voting them out of office, there will come a day when they will ask themselves, what happened to my rights?? By that time it will be too late. The future of women who have to put up with all this bull of contraception, abortion and many others is leading them down the path to second class citizenship. Women have so much power but they don't realize it. If women went on strike in the kitchen and the bedroom I believe things would change quickly and for the better.

I am proud the Kristin is my senator, and that I voted for her. She is a gift to NYS, as is Sen. Schumer. We women in NY are lucky to have such good people speaking for us.

Awesome!! I'm truly convinced that in order toend all injustice towards women, there must be way more women in the Congress of any country. She is an inspiration, and I just wish for more women like her in politics everywhere

A big round of applause for Kristin Gillibrand!! Hopefully, she'll be able to help good strong woman attain and/or hold their leadership positions, then each of them can, in turn, help other women. When women work together much can be accomplished!
