Giraffe Hunters Paying Up To $15,000 To Kill For Sport

Tourist trophy hunters are paying thousands of dollars to go to countries in Africa and shoot giraffes with high-powered guns and bows, just for sport.

Slaughtering giraffes? Those beloved gentle giants?

Tourists Paying Up To $15,000 For The Chance To Kill A Giraffe

From The Daily Mail:

Hunters pay up to a whopping £10,000 for the the chance to slay them – preferring bulls because they are the biggest.

Safari clubs and game reserves ask for a £1,500 trophy fee, and then add on rates for guides and trackers costing around £1,000 per day.

The hunts typically last three-to-five days and see tourists using .458 Winchester Magnum rifles to kill the animals.

With most hunters flying to Africa from their homes in Europe or America, the costs stretch into five figures.

Trophy Giraffes

By clicking here, you can see photos of big-spending men and women from around the world, who have traveled all those thousands of miles to kill giraffes for sport. Some hunters come from Britain but the big majority are from North America, Germany, Russia and Scandinavia.

Is that what they want? A photo to show off at home, proof that they’ve killed an animal that puts up no resistance? Or the ability to take the skin home or get taxidermists to mount the heads so they can be shown off as trophies?

The hunting continues even though numbers of the animals are plummeting. The latest statistics show the number of giraffes in the world have nearly halved since 1988 from over 140,000 to less than 80,000.

Giraffes Already Extinct In Some Countries

In other words, these animals are near extinction. In fact they are no longer found in countries like Nigeria, Mali and Angola.

Dr. Julian Fennessy founded Giraffe Conservation Foundation, (GCF), which is dedicated to the conservation and management of giraffe with a particular emphasis on field-based research and collaborative partnerships with governments, non-government organisations and individuals. Every penny of money donated to GCF is put towards this end, with particular focus on the three sub-species which are endangered or seriously in decline – the West African giraffe, Rothschild’s giraffe and the reticulated giraffe.

Let’s hope the GCF can work fast enough to protect plenty of giraffes from needless trophy hunting. And how exactly can anyone be proud of killing a giraffe?

Those rednecks are proud as a peacock strutting around after the kill (or) as proud as if they any d--- sense.. They obviously do not know a thing about the conservation of wildlife in Africa., but then there are those who would sell their Mother to make a dollar. This is a double edged sword. When will the African leaders learn what their precious jewels are?...the wildlife and the landscapes. They will eventually learn but by time it dawns on them, the continent will have become silent, desolate and barren of the most beautiful, natural wildlife and landscapes in the world. What a waste. Ignorance begets ignorance.

Pour moi, ce ne sont pas des hommes, ils ne sont courageux qu'avec un fusil.
Sans armes, ils ne sont rien , ils n' ont aucun courage , ce sont des impuissants

When will they be arrested for killing innocent animals? The universe will get REAL GOOD,
I wish I could squeeze their guns up their asses.....and pull that trigger with the same pleasure....

Appaling that this should still be allowed to continue. Most trophy hunters can afford to give the equivalent money it costs to hunt to support a comunity without killing the animal. Shame on these hunters, they should be honored these magnifiscent animals walk the earth in their lifetimes. Trade the weapons for a camera, you scum! Truly disgusting that the UN is endorsing this ecocide by not condemning it and enforcing strickter laws onto these crime syndicates. Decency now! Follow the money and weapons trail on all wildlife trade to root out this evil in all its hierarchy and to take a good look at who is really benefitting from this slaughter, guaranteed a minuscule group of well-to-do corrupt business men and sleazy politicians shutting up for a few dollars. Annihilating Africas wildlife is killing a unique biodiversity that is Africas best and own chance at creating an indepndant economy, not needy of accepting dirty money for the plundering of its natural ressources by multinationals or hunting criminal circles of asian, american, european and middle eastern origines! Africa is being colonized once more by these corrupt multinationals, as is south America. Appaling that supposedly well "educated" industrials are mostly behind this horrid industry, pumping life and natural ressources out of Africa pretexting to help benefit the country economically by exploiting its wildlife, nature and people! Expose this corruption and end it!! All Africans, stand up! By ethically prov
