Loading...GOP Rep: Criminalize Abortion Care
In a television appearance to discuss the mis-named Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA), Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) let slip that the efforts to ban sex-selective abortions were not really motivated out of a concern for “unborn baby girls” but out of a desire to turn pregnant women and doctors into criminals.
Stearns made the remarks Friday afternoon to Chris Matthews, and ThinkProgress has the footage. Here’s an excerpt of the exchange:
MATTHEWS: So it should be a criminal matter for the woman as well as the doctor?
STEARNS: I think so. You are killing an embryo and in some cases you are killing an embryo that is four or five months into gestation.
Matthews mostly let that comment slide until Stearns reached even farther to defend it by pointing to sex-selective abortion restrictions in other countries overseas arguing that ““if all of Europe and most of Asia has this same rule, that you cannot have sex selection as an abortion, why can’t we in the united states pass the same bill?” To his credit Matthews at least called Stearns out on the hypocrisy of looking to Europe for support on an issue because when the left does it, they are totally and obviously socialists.
The story here isn’t that Rep. Stearns wants to criminalize pregnant women and doctors who perform abortions–that much is a given. The story here is that finally Republicans are being open about that fact, even if they don’t mean to be.

This guy is going to force services back into the "dark ages" when women went into dark allies, in secret, got it done with a coat hanger, went home and bled to death or died of infection. Things happen and a woman has the RIGHT to make this decision with her doctor. YOU do NOT have the right to tell her she must keep her pregnancy. Not all religions consider an embryo a person - are you going to force your religious beliefs on them too ? Either way, a woman has to live with HER DECISION, you don't. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS and stay out of the women's private life.

The Republicans are a right wing tea party full of 'radical religious' people. They are for tax cuts for the wealthy. But are against everything else...certainly against the middle class and the poor. They want to get rid of Roe vs Wade which would take us to the bad old days of back alley butchers, the clothes hangar days when so many women died. They are against 'Fair Pay', equal rights, gay rights, civil rights, voting rights for people who vote Democratic, women's rights, contraception rights, & choice for women. But they are for forced vaginal probes (Big government, anyone) Hypocrites!
We were a country of laws, so now the right is finding ways to nullify Roe vs. Wade & a ruthless, ignorant campaign to demean Women & strip them of their inherant rights.Are we going to allow the corruption of the right to demean our Mothers, Sisters, Aunts, and female friends? Will the American people tolerate another stolen election, like the stolen one that put Napoleon George w Bush( he & his corrupt to the bone family) in a position that was stolen for him?
We can't have that bill becasue we are AMERICA and PROGRESSIVE and FREE
Republicans need to be voted out of office in every state at every opportunity. They are disgusting and despicable and filled with hate unless you are also a Republican and think exactly as they do.
