Rescued Horses Get Happy Ending (VIDEO)

We’ve often urged you to adopt cats and dogs from shelters. Even the U.S. Postal Service has issued a sheet of stamps with this plea. But we sometimes forget about the other animals who need loving homes, too.

This video shows us horses who were rescued from horrible conditions in West Virginia by The Humane Society of the United States, and how some of them have prospered after being adopted.

Most of us are not in a position to adopt a horse, but it is heartwarming to see those of us who are — and choose to.

Crying my eyes out.Watching these videos of horses and mules in such terrible conditions, living lives of hell.Man is a unforgiving beast.Yet, these wonderful animals are so forgiving and so glad to feel a kind touch.Things must change. My heart felt thank you to all that help horses, mules and donkeys find good homes with those that really know how to care for and respect these majestic noble creatures.

There is no animal as noble as equines. They are often forgotten victims of abuse. They are hard to place in good homes due to the expense. They deserve the love and respect that cats and dogs get.

I love all animals but for some reason horses make me feel more emotional than any other and see these horses and mules in such dreadful condition is heartbreaking. But all praise to these wonderful people who have worked wonders on behalf of these animals. It is so heart warming and encouraging to know there are such kind people in the world.

Don't forget that the category equines includes donkeys. These animals make wonderful companions as they are more affectionate than horses. You need to win their trust, first. They have most of the same needs as horses, de-worming, ferrier care of their hoofs, and do well on a diet of grass hay. Don't provide something richer--it will shorten their lives.

If you can afford it, please adopt a horse from a reputable rescue organization. You will be saving that horse from the cruelty of slaughter and making yourself a good friend.

Most people have no idea, I didnt, that being around a horse can be so healing. Im not going to try and explain it, but I know from my own experience it is true. Horses can be really affectionate which also surprised me.
They've been used for people with developmental disability and epilepsy, to help heal. What a source of healing right in front of us, yet some people turn away and let them be rounded up for slaughter. (Not all of us, of course.)
