Is Santorum Trying to Torpedo Romney?

Is Santorum Trying to Torpedo Romney?

It’s no secret that the primary battle between former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum got pretty heated by the end.  A brutal, contentious fight left both candidates winded, and although Romney came out the eventual victor, Santorum hasn’t quite moved on despite his public proclamations of suspending his campaign.

Santorum’s steady refusal to endorse his rivals candidacy and his pointed remarks that people should continue to vote for the candidate they most approve on signal he may not be a Romney backer yet.  But is he actively trying to see that Romney loses the general election?

Maybe.

According to First Read, a fundraising letter from the Santorum campaign was sent to Iowa voters, in which Romney was viciously attacked.  “‘It truly frightens me to think what’ll happen if Romney is the nominee,’ reads the letter, which the Des Moines Register reported showed up in Iowa mailboxes on Monday – almost a week after Santorum announced he would abandon his bid for the White House.”

The campaign says that the letter was written before Santorum left the race.  But not everyone believes it was unintentional.  After all, Santorum has expressed his interest in a 2016 campaign, and can’t happen if Romney wins the White House.

Could Santorum be trying to sabotage his own party?  We’ll have to keep an eye out for more “accidents” to see.

If he torpedoes Romney, I hope that he uses a condom to avoid leaving any santorum behind.

Make sure Sandy has plenty of torpedos.

Mittins must be stopped, any way it can be done.

Helping to bring down Romney's campaign would probably be the only thing he could do that I might agree with. I don't always agree with everything that Obama/ Democrats say and do but I really don't want to think about living in a country run by either Santorum or Romney.

Please go right ahead, Ricky boy...However knowing how many times Romney's put his foot in his mouth all ready, I'm sure he'll Torpedo himself as well, as we head towards November, and the re-elction of President Obama...

We Dems don't mind if you keep undermining Romney, Rick. He earned it. We know you hope to come back in 2016, and guess what? Chuck Todd was saying this morning that the other Rick -- Rick Perry hopes to try again in 2016 too! The comedians can't wait.

Romneys' comments are absurd and he sounds like he needs professional help. I cannot understand how he ever was elected for any position. The voters in his state could not possibly have been paying attention to what he says.

God help us if he ever really gets elected for a higher position in government.
