Fifteen-year-old Regina Mayer really wanted a horse, but when her parents refused to comply, she decided to start riding the next best thing – a cow by the name of Luna.
Regina lives in Laufen, a tiny village in southern Germany, where the teen and her cow can often be seen moving through the countryside.
From The Daily Mail:
They started off with walks in the woods, then Regina slowly got her cow more accustomed to human contact and riding equipment.
About six months later, it was time to see how Luna would respond to a rider on her back. Regina sat in the saddle and all went as planned – at least at first.
‘She was really well behaved and walked normally,’ said blonde Regina. ‘But after a couple of metres, she wanted me to get off. You could see that she got a bit peeved.’
Luna and Regina are now best friends, spending most afternoons together once the teen – who aspires to become a nurse – comes home from school.
Apparently Luna has a stubborn streak which that it wasn’t that easy to teach her pony tricks. But the persistent teenager sought tips from a cow expert in Switzerland and eventually got Luna to “behave.”
What do you think? Is this an example of animal abuse? Or is it just bizarre? Or something else?

+ add your ownits just a girl and her uh show jumping cow
great story..although i think the girl deserves to have a horse now:)..i'm glad she & luna are doing their thing..and it really made me think about cow intellegence and becoming vegetarian again..thanks for sharing it
Weird.
It doesn't appear that there is any abuse. The girl genuinely appears to love Luna.
I see love between the two. No abuse. Nice story!
I see no problem with this. The cow seems happy, and so does the girl. There is no way that the cow is being abused, or "exploited". So why do people have to throw a fit over everything animal related??
The human and cow have a bond, a relationship together. I don't see why it's a problem. Therapy horses work with disabled children all the time, and they even know their riders. I think it's quite beautiful that different species can get along like this.

You may think that the only thing that cows can do is give milk and I guess you haven´t see many free ranch cows before... well let me tell you that they jump!
So the cow isn´t doing something unatural like you said.
Here you have a link that shows how they enjoy jumping and running.

:)
Luna appears to be well taken care of and loved so while I don't think it's maybe normal to see a cow ridden, it's really not any different than riding a horse. It's no different than the exploitation of a horse or any other animal.
She looks happy.
