Is Uncle Chi-Chi the oldest dog in the world?
The official Guinness record holder, Sako, from Australia is 22. But Uncle Chi-Chi’s owner, Frank Pavich, who lives in New York, believes his miniature poodle is 23 or maybe 24.
From The Daily Mail:
‘He is a bit of a local celebrity and I totally adore him,’ said Frank, who has been on a quest for the past year to have his pampered pet recognised by Guinness as the world’s oldest living pooch.
‘I adopted Chi-Chi in January 1996 when it was understood he was eight or nine years old. He came from Jane Maybank who is a relative of mine. She lived in Charleston, in South Carolina, and couldn’t look after Uncle Chi-Chi because he didn’t get along with her new baby.
And before that he was owned by Frances Huston, another relative, who took him in for her elderly mother to keep her company.
‘He came from the John Ancrum Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Charleston as a rescue dog in the winter of 1987-88. Staff there told Frances he was one or one-and-a-half.’

+ add your ownUncle Chi Chi is so cute. I wonder how they would be able to find out for sure, that he is the oldest dog in the world? Well, no matter, Uncle Chi Chi many happy years ahead!
I also adore him -- may he live many, many more years -- for those who want more concrete proof, i wonder if science can give us his true age?
I GOT A SHITZ TSU, from a women i worked for. she got him from a shelter for her little girl who was 2 years old at the time. She had two other children ages 7 and 9. These kids were something else with him. They bwould dress him up,put him in a stroller and ride him around and do all sorts of things to him. He was a faithfull soul to them. When they wold come home from school and he would hear the school bus he was out the door to greet them everyday. This went on for about 2 years and he was now about 4 years old. As the children got older they seemed to get rougher and one day he had bitten a neighber chikd. There father was going to put him to sleep and the kids called me and asked me if i would take him so he wasnt put to sleep. He didnt mean to bite but was diagnosed with hip displysia.Sydney knew me well because i would keep him when the faimly went on summer vacations. I did agree to take him ,he was such a loveing a faithfull pet. I just lost him last year and he was going on being 25 years old.His eye sight was going and as far as the hip dysplasia i put him on rimdyl (wonderful drug) for arthritis. When he passed he was still trying to go to the bathroom outside and was just as faithfull and i to him as well. He died in my arms and i still sob for him, he was like the child i never had!
He's cute!

He is so cute and certainly loved and well taken care of. :)
you can tell he is loved and well taken care of.
Loved how Uncle chi chi ate from his hand:)
My eldest daughter has a miniature poodle that is now 15 years old but is as feisty as she was when she was a pup.One wonders howmany old dogs there are that may also be over 20 years old. Not everyone goes to the trouble of keeping track, especially if dogs go from one relative to another!
cute!
