Two million children under the age of five die each year because they do not have access to clean, safe drinking water. Let that statistic sink in.

It’s easy enough to take safe drinking water for granted when it’s there for the taking, straight from the tap, right in the comfort of our own homes. There’s little reason for us to give it much thought, but that’s exactly what I’m asking you to do today, because an estimated one billion people in developing countries are not so fortunate. Their health and well-being, in fact, their very lives, are endangered every day for lack of something so basic as clean drinking water.

Bad water and inadequate sanitation can cause life-threatening diarrhea. Without early intervention, children can very quickly die from acute dehydration.

Would you believe that six cents can make a difference? Oral rehydration salts (ORS) are a simple combination of salt, sugar and clean water, but they save one million children annually from the ravages of diarrheal diseases — and they cost only six cents per packet. That’s right, six cents to save a life. To the parents of these children, it is nothing short of a miracle.

One of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s corporate supporters has agreed to donate a packet of ORS for every supporter who registers to receive their e-newsletter. Please take a moment out of your busy day, as I just did, to sign the pledge and receive UNICEF’s e-newsletter.

Six cents to help prevent needless tragedy — and all you have to do is click here to sign the “6 Cents Can Save a Child’s Life” Pledge and agree to receive UNICEF’s e-newsletter.  Act now and be part of the miracle.

It is shocking! I herd we use more water flushing our toilets once than families in developing nations use for an entire day.
Another scary thing I herd: If we raised their standard of living to match ours in the US, We'd need FIVE Planet Earths to support us all!
We've gotta dial back our life style. We're all conditioned to think in terms of growth. It's about sustainability.

HEALTH IS EVERYTHING... EVERYTHING.

THERE is "no today" when one's health has been victimized causing a death that is from NEGLECT, ABUSE, and other treachery.

REFUSING any life QUALITY WATER... as well as AMPLE FOOD SUPPLY is an outrage.

AN OUTRAGE.
