Looks like another case of election fraud is about to hit Wisconsin. According to Politico, the Koch Brother-backed Americans for Prosperity is sending absentee ballots to Democrats in at least two state Senate recall districts with instructions to return the ballots after the election date.
One flier was discovered in Hudson, Wisconsin. There, Democrat Shelly Moore is challenging GOP State Sen. Sheila Harsdorf. The other flier was found in Kaukauna where Democrat Nancy Nusbaum is challenging Sen. Robert Cowles.
The reports also come as news that fire officials in La Crosse are continuing to investigate a Saturday blaze that destroyed the regional offices of We Are Wisconsin, a union political action committee supporting Democratic candidates in the recall elections.
Even if both of these incidents are accidental and/or unrelated, the last thing Wisconsin needs is the appearance of more funny business by Republicans surrounding the recall process. With each new allegation that arises the public trust and confidence in the electoral system further erodes.
Republicans, it appears, have reason to worry with Democrats continuing to maintain the advantage in both fundraising and the enthusiasm. With the recall elections just a week away, let’s hope these latest antics don’t deter voters from going out to the polls or worse — having their vote taken away from them all together.
