More Than Two Million African-American Households Would Face a Tax Hike Under Romney’s Plan

Written by Aviva Shen

Mitt Romney is making his pitch to African-American voters at the NAACP conference today, but while he plans to focus on the economy, he probably won’t discuss the tax hike that many African-American households would face under his economic plan.

Romney has touted his tax plan as good for the middle class, with tax cuts for everyone. But while millionaires would indeed get a giant tax cut — worth hundreds of thousands of dollars — more than two million African-American working class families would lose their current tax credits for children and earned income.

And since Romney has not yet explained how he will pay for the millionaire tax cuts, the tax hike on working class families could be even higher.

I take offense at the title of this article and all it implies. Are African-Americans the only ones who will suffer? There are plenty of whites, Hispanics and other Nationalities who are middle class, working Americans.
There is too much focus on African-Americans. This country owes them nothing. Slavery was our ancestors doing, not ours. It's time they let it go and blend in with the rest of us. Shame on them for expecting more than all other Americans.

He says he's for America, well then why is all his money in foreign banks earning him tons more money. What the hell he needs to get out of the US to go live with his dirty money. He gives me the creeps. He's like a robot doing what the far right of the Repubtea party tells hims to do and say. Not fit to run for President let alone ever steal the office, which his party will try and do with all their might!

@AB A. What many fail to understand is that we are already being taxed for the healthcare of the uninsured , but rather than catching problems early (like checking your cars oil), those medical issues are left unchecked until the uninsured end up in the emergency room.

Much like the penny-wise pound foolish idea of not checking your oil when the curative would be but a quart of oil, and instead waiting until one needs to replace a blown up motor, skipping early detection and treatment of medical issues leaves an unpaid bill from the uninsured that ends up being reflected in increased insurance and/or tax burdens.

The republican sales of short shortsightedness seems indeed to be a booming business.
