Hard to believe that it’s almost March and we’re contemplating former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santroum as the Republican presidential nominee but here we are. Gallup’s daily tracking poll has Santorum practically pulling away with the race with an 8 point lead over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Feeling the need to do some damage control over the recent anti-woman platform the party has adopted, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) swears the party is “extremely pro-woman.” Bachmann did not elaborate on how they are a pro-woman party, nor did she offer any examples. Just trust her.
Maine finally finished voting and while it looks like Rep. Ron Paul picked up more votes, it was not enough to unseat Romney’s victory. But if you think the “honest rape” candidate is going anywhere, think again. Paul reminded the American public that delegates are not necessarily guaranteed votes at the convention and that he plans to press ahead. Considering how he’s cozying up to the Romney camp you know Paul has something he’s looking to leverage. The question is going to be, what?
Romney has every need to keep Paul’s delegates close should this Santorum surge continue. But what exactly is the great white fauxbertarian hope doing getting cuddly with the candidate of the plutocrats Romney? Well, they share a certain anti-immigrant, anti-woman zeal, so we know there’s common ground, but the alliance calls into question Paul’s fortitude on fiscal policy.
I wonder who will be the flip-flopper here?
