Morning Mix: Does Ensign Owe A Head’s Up To Santorum? And Other Headlines

Morning Mix: Does Ensign Owe A Head’s Up To Santorum? And Other Headlines

Nevada Senator John Ensign may be out of Congress, but his scandals live on.  A report was released that detailed the ethics violations the Republican was accused of, from an affair with an aide’s wife to violating federal tax laws.   Most interesting?  It appears that presidential candidate Rick Santorum may have tipped off Ensign about his mistress incident going public.  Why was Ensign’s aide talking to Santorum about his wife having an affair with his boss?  No one seems to know, but we can bet that’s going to come up in the next presidential debate.

Speaking of ethics, it used to be that no one thought you really needed an ethics code for Supreme Court justices.  After all, impartiality was supposed to be the big factor in deciding cases.  But between right-wing fundraisers and Tea Party wives, is it time to put a code of ethics in place at the highest court in the land?

Finally, we’ve been noticing a lot of different attempts to use the educational system to force conservative ideals onto school children.  First there was the creationist curriculum being proposed in Texas, then the “adopt a school” program for Constitution Week by people who don’t really believe in the Constitution.

Now, The American Coal Foundation wants to teach children about energy?  No wonder our public schools are in so much trouble.

Things to watch today: Ron Paul is officially in as a GOP presidential candidate.

John F. Harris covered the Clinton White House from 1995 to 2001. Harris is the author of a book on Bill Clinton called The Survivor, and the co-author with Mark Halperin of The Way to Win: Clinton, Bush, Rove and How to Take the White House in 2008. Think he may have an AGENDA????

Jim VandeHei served an internship with Democrat Senator Herb Kohl in 1994, which led to his decision to be a political journalist.

Robert Allbritton received his B.A. degree from the politically liberal Wesleyan University in 1992, and he serves currently as a Trustee of both Wesleyan University and the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.

Michael Kinsley: In 1979 Kinsley became editor of The New Republic(The magazine supports liberal social and economic policies.) and wrote that magazine's TRB column for most of the 1980s and 1990s. TNR "invented the modern usage of the term liberal, and it’s one of our historical legacies and obligations to be involved in the ongoing debate over what exactly liberalism means and stands for.

Joe Scarborough: In April 2003, he embarked upon a television career with the launch of Scarborough Country on MSNBC, until he began hosting Morning Joe full-time. MSNBC MSNBC

Notice any political leanings that might skew the reporting here? Politico isn't as bad as the Huffington Post or MoveOn, but there are more credible sources to trust.

william g. says:
"Fist things first. Citing POLITICO is akin to eavesdropping at the grade school playground."
POLITICO was a sponsor of the 2008 Presidential debates for both the major parties. It was started by John F. Harris and Jim VandeHei formerly of The Washington Post , on January 23, 2007. Frederick J. Ryan Jr., former assistant to president r r, is president and CEO. It is financed by Robert Allbritton, chairman and chief executive of Allbritton Communications. They own television stations in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere, affiliated with Disney-owned ABC.
“After liberal watchdog group Media Matters for America accused Politico of having a "Republican tilt," Politico's Ben Smith answered: "Media Matters has a point: ...that Bush's public endorsement made us seem too close to the White House.”
In 2010, Politico added its first two opinion columnists: Michael Kinsley and Joe Scarborough.
A 2009 profile of the organization in Vanity Fair said Politico had an editorial staff of 75 and a total staff of 100.
It's not like they are a bunch of school kids putting out a rupert type rag, and they seem to be a lot more balanced than than murdoch's "news" propaganda machine. I'd rather see them referenced than "theblaze".

william g. asks:
"Next what do scandals in the senate have to do with public schools?"
william, the article is title "Morning Mix". It is a compilation.
Other topics mentioned are; supreme court ethics, ron paul's announcing, etc. Kind of like multi-tasking.
What's your problem with politico?
