Nevada Senator John Ensign to Resign

Nevada Senator John Ensign to Resign

Nevada Senator John Ensign had already announced he would not be running for reelection.  But now the scandal-plagued Republican has said he will not be finishing his term, instead, resigning as of May 3rd.

Via Reuters:

“The turbulence of these last few years is greatly surpassed by the incredible privilege that I feel to have been entrusted to serve the people of Nevada,” Ensign said.

Ensign, who was in mid ethics probe for an extramarital affair with a former campaign aide, was is expected to be replaced by current Republican Representative Dean Heller, leaving Heller’s seat open.  According to Dave Weigel at Slate, that means a special election for someone to finish the rest of Heller’s term, and it appears that candidates are nominated by the party to run, rather than a traditional primary.

If the party players pick a favorite, what are the odds that they are going to choose Tea Party Queen Sharron Angle, who is trying desperately to grab Heller’s seat?

Angle is power hungry. One would have to be a fool to consider her. Ensign, good riddance. Which you would help all the rest of the washington crowd exit as well.

Goodbye and good luck, Mr. Ensign. You've done a noble thing, trading sex for a lobbying job for your sex partner's husband. Sounds like you have the makings of a negotiator. Good thing you didn't hurt your wife or children with your thoughtless lust. The bloom is off the rose, or should I say, you look 62, not 52, so your wife is probably not interested in you anyway. If I were she, I'd kick your stupid butt out the door and file for the big D. You are a complete idiot. Fox could use you.

It's okay that Senator Ensign had an extramarital affair with the wife of one of his campaign aides --because he got her husband a nice job as a lobbyist and gave the couple $96,000. Personally, I don't care whether or not he had an affair. I'm just glad to see a member of the GOP leave office. Now we just have to hope and pray that Sharron Angle doesn't win Dean Heller's vacant seat when he leaves to fill the one vacated by Ensign.

Just a tad overdue.

So much for our marriage-defending Republicans! Oh, but that's OK. The marriage was violated by a hetero, not a gay.

And these are our marriage-defending Republicans! Oh, but that's OK. The marriage was violated by a consenting hetero, not a queer.

There was a map in the New York Times, Sundy, March 6, 2011 with a color map showing the 50 states called the National Well-Being Landscape. When you compare that map with a map of the red and blue states from Wikopedia, except for Utah, Wyoming, Oklahoma, two thirds of Kansas, half of Idaho and half of Texas, every red Republican state was between the middle fifth to the bottom fifth (national average to worst off).

The Wikopedia map can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states.

A look at the states with Republicans in Governor’s offices as of January 2011 follows similarly but the states of North Dakota and South Dakota fare better. Those two states are not traditionally Republican and maybe those new Republican governors still need to work their magic.

Most of the southern red states were in the next to bottom fifth or bottom fifth. Oddly enough that includes the gulf coast Republican states affected by the BP oil spill.

Go Republicans!!! DRILL BABY DRILL!!!

For a world look, you can go to Time Magazine, p.30 and 31 to find a world map grading prosperity in the countries of the world. Rated number 1, 2, and 3 are Norway, Denmark and Finland. You know those socialized medicine and pinko socialistic countries.

Now I am sure the Republicans will consider the sources far left liberal. Anything left of Mein Kampf usually is. Maybe they can get better number from corporate reports.
