Pastor Terry Jones To Run For President, But Not On A “Burning Qurans” Platform
For the nine year anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Pastor Terry Jones of Dove Outreach declared his intentions to burn a Quran at his “church” to commemorate the event.† The world reacted, from celebrities and politicians jumping in to dissuade him, to clashes of violence breaking out in the Middle East in protest.
Jones must be missing that type of attention.† A year later, he’s announcing his intention of running for President of the United States.
According to the Daily Caller, Jones’s political group Stand Up America announced his bid yesterday, with a seven point campaign platform. Among the issues Jones will run on?† Stopping government overspending and reducing military spending, balancing the budget, reducing bureaucracy and corporate taxes, and deporting “all illegals.”† “We must immediately begin the deportation of the 20 million illegal aliens living in our country. This would be an operation similar to what Eisenhower did to provide jobs for the soldiers who were coming home after the war. Also saving us 400 billion dollars per year.”
Jones doesn’t say whether he is running as a member of any particular party, but one can only hope its not as a Democrat, since anti-choice zealot Randall Terry, formerly of Operation Rescue, already claimed the “not a real candidate” mantle on that side so he can run graphic anti-abortion ads on television.
When they say the voters are looking for the next “Flavor of the Month,” I don’t think this is what they meant.
