PETA to Launch Porn Site

1125 comments PETA to Launch Porn Site

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is taking things to a new level with plans to launch its own XXX porn site, which is expected to go live in December.

The site is intended to promote veganism. Visitors to the site will get to view porn and images from their campaigns, mixed in with gruesome video clips of animals suffering and, for real, vegetarian starter kits and recipes. So it would go something like boobs, some sex, screaming pigs being brutalized, boobs, vegan spicy thai tofu recipe?

“We’re hoping to reach a whole new audience of people, some of whom will be shocked by graphic images that maybe they didn’t anticipate seeing when they went to the PETA triple-X site,” said Lindsay Rajt, PETA’s associate director of campaigns.

The question is who, exactly, is PETA targeting with this site? It seems that anyone that would be drawn to a site that combines pornography and violence would be the same type of person who might actually be into crush porn, and not someone who’s looking to adopt a more compassionate lifestyle or help end the exploitation of animals or humans.

PETA is no stranger to being in the spotlight of controversy and drawing criticism from animal welfare and rights supporters, vegans, women’s rights groups… and sane people everywhere with no particular group affiliation.

“Exploiting porn to get people’s juices going seems lame; exploiting pornographic images only of women to make their point is retrograde and misogynist,” said Jill Dolan, director of the program in gender and sexuality studies at Princeton University. “Come on, PETA. Don’t be Neanderthals.”

According to Rajit, the women who will participate are doing so willfully and it would actually be anti-feminist not to let them do whatever they want with their bodies, which some postmodern feminists might agree with.

Unfortunately, PETA seems to miss the point entirely when it comes to ending suffering and exploitation of sentient beings, both human and non-human animal, and instead chooses to use sex to send a message. Their sensationalistic tactics send a contradictory message that reinforces the idea that women and animals are still nothing more than commodities, promotes unrealistic and unhealthy beauty and weight standards, and completely undermines the whole premise of veganism.

It’s also almost too ironic, considering PETA just freaked out over a photo of a plucked chicken being “too sexy.

This is a very strange decision. I really don't think there's a good chance of this site having it's intended purpose on people's animal cruelty views. There are so many better ways than this to show people the wrongness of causing animals to feel unnecessary pain. To me, targeting people's reactions to disgust is the wrong way to go about affecting a change in peoples views and behavior.

PETA has never been a genuine "animal welfare" organisation, right from the beginning...

They have NEVER saved any animals nor made any really significant advance in any area ~ apart from making millions $$$$$ for their founders and top-level management..

They publicise other groups positive works, and often market themselves as somehow influencing the outcomes ~ making PETA themselves nothing more than parasites and frauds, often riding on others backs, and claiming glory for themselves..

IS "PETA" a registered charity in the USA or Britain ~ if so, then they owe those countries millions in back taxes, as they have NEVER done any charitable works during their existence..

AND why do those PETA members keep on getting away with their ongoing fraud, theft (as in ill-gotten donations to non-existent "causes"..), vandalism and libel/slander, as well as ongoing public mischief, and interfering with other people's lives and livelihoods ??? It's way-past-time that those crooks were convicted and locked away ~ preferably with a met-only diet for the next twenty years..

This is APALLING - How do we STOP this NOW

If you are donating funds to PETA - WITHDRAW YOUR SUPPORT IMMEDIATELY

Your money is going to be used to TITILATE SICKOS with ON-LINE CRUELTY TO GO instead of being applied to educating children and exposing unethical farming methods or animal testing - Is that what you want

BY AN ORGANISATION WE ALL BELIEVED GENUINELY WORKED TO END HORROR AND CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

Surely any intelligent person would understand the psychological impact that sex and cruelty to innocents would have on a PORN addict

THIS IS NOT GOING TO SHOCK THEM - THEY WILL LOVE IT

We need LAWS to stop cruelty towards our fellow creatures and we need people with CREDIBILITY to fight for them and speak on their behalf

PETA just lost all CREDIBILITY - Ask for your money back NOW

To me, mixing porn and animal suffering in the same site is pretty disgusting and sick, not to say disrespectful of animals. Just imagine mixing porn with pictures of people suffering or dying; it would be equally outrageous.

I wish PETA was advocating legalizing prostitution in Massachusetts.

PETA appears to have its brain in it pants - if they knew anything about even the most simple psychology they would know that this is not only, a stupid idea, but also, potentially very dangerous to both animals and people, for you are potentially setting up new associations between horrific acts on animals and sexual arousal in some people who are already very disturbed - what are they thinking - stupid, stupid, stupid.

I think this message might spur even more brutality and that they over-estimate the average porn freaks IQ and underestimate the effect and consequences such imagery might have on weak, uneducated minds. That they will reach an audience,no doubt, but it will spell sure cruelty. They should work with the UN on getting a bi-color ratings label on all products instead 0 to 5 scale , GREEN for environment friendly / RED for animal industry/testing and press message hardcore to media instead.

I think this is just sick--and demeaning to the animals.
