Promiscuous Women Cause Earthquakes

Promiscuous Women Cause Earthquakes

Now I think I’ve heard it all.

“Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which increases earthquakes,” said an Iranian cleric, Hojjat ol-eslam Kazem Sediqi, the acting Friday prayer leader in Tehran, the nation’s capital.

In the Islamic Republic women are required to be covered from head to toe, but more and more younger women are wearing tighter coats or scarves that show more of their hair. This immoral behavior [insert sarcasm] has literally caused the earth to shake, according to the religious leader.

This is just utterly ridiculous. I’m not sure how else to put it. Utterly ridiculous.

Iran is one of the most earthquake prone countries in the world. Over the last decade, tens of thousands of people have died in the country’s earthquakes. Are women really to blame for all these deaths?†

No, of course not! Now, whether this “logic” is genuinely believed or simply a ploy to encourage the nation’s religiously conservative ideals is questionable, but either way women lose. And isn’t this “logic” insulting to Iranian men? Are they so weak willed that a tighter scarf or revealed hairline† causes them to cheat?†

On the same token, blaming women for something that is completely out of their control but certainly inevitable is a recipe for disaster. If and when a quake hits will women be targeted, harassed, and live in fear or retaliation or violence? If religious leaders preach that they are the ones to blame this doesn’t seem too far off.

A devastating quake is predicted to hit Tehran’s 12 million inhabitants soon which has caused reason for concern but blaming women is not the answer nor will fully covered women stop a quake in its tracks or save these millions of people.

“What can we do to avoid being buried under the rubble?” asked Mr. Sediqi at a sermon at Tehran University. “There is no other solution but to take refuge in religion and to adapt our lives to Islam’s moral codes,” he said.

Or we can work on building a new capital further from the quake prone zone. I wonder which solution would work better.†

Well, all we can hope for is that all the high priests get to be with the "earthquake causing" women before the quake. At lease they'll know how little a woman can cause the quakes. Especially since these "men" aren't men. If the women cause them, it is from being deceived by the men and woman start stamping their feet and maybe, just maybe, that is how women can cause quakes.

Some men are forever into finding some excuse to blame women for the ills of the world, no new news here. An earthquake of mindless rhetoric sending shock waves of illogical nonsense forever engulfing the planet. It continues on endlessly, same b.s. different pile!

Number one, how a woman dresses is not ever going to cause an earthquake, anyone who thinks so or says so is just showing how stupid they really are.
Number 2 how a woman dresses does not cause adultery a man is a man and he will sleep with a pig if he is horny enough. and last you can pray to any god you believe in he will not save you from any earthquake, and no matter your faith, mistreatment of women, girls and animals will all have to answered for when you get there in the end.... Give freedom to all and them do what the want as a person... a woman CAN NOT make anything bad happen.... EVER.

Pamela D - I am a muslim woman and YES i cover my head with a headscarf and do wear " a huge sack " (as u see fit to call our muslim garb) over my clothes whenever I go out of my home. That is entirely my CHOICE aint it pamela!!!! I dont tell you how to dress when your woman dress up however they want (I can use plenty of bad and disgusting insults too but then I would be stooping down to your level wont I ???)) so why does it bother u so about how we muslim women dress. We all have Freedom of Rights to dress how, when ,where and why we wish to dress how we dress. For your information most of us muslim women wear the muslim garb out of our OWN choice to please God Almighty( NOT all women are forced to, as most of you FALSELY think) and if this is how we visualize "Modesty" who are you to dictate to us how 'you" think it should be and that your way is CORRECT and ours is INCORRECT. Just as the christian NUNS cover up out of their own choice to please God -WHY dont we ever hear any disgusting insults about the cover up garments of the millions of nuns all over the world. They too could face all the problems u list facing the muslim women in our muslim garbs. They wear it even with all the problems just as we like to wear it with all its problems so please STOP demonising our dressing.

Remember you will answer for your own deeds and we for ours to the LORD of Mankind on the Day of Judgement. Be aware that your opinions are just that "YOUR" opinions NOT GODS.

Ray P.: Anyway I, in my personal capacity, have been taught as a MUSLIM to have respect for anothers' Religion, Dressing, Culture and Colour.

You know, Ray, I was taught the same thing in my Christian upbringing. To a point. That point would be where someone is being abused. When abuse starts, tolerance stops. If you don't think there's anything abusive about having to wear a huge sack with a tiny slit for your eyes, then I invite you to spend 6 months dressed thusly. No one will know you are a man, so you have nothing to lose. You must wear this every time you leave your home. You must drive in it, work in it, run from an attacker in it, etc. When you have walked in their shoes, THEN you can say it's reasonable.

There is a huge difference between making a comment about a different culture's choice of clothing and endorsing an abusive method of keeping women down. When you all finally do meet your Maker, you will surely have some explaining to do. Good luck with that.

What is wrong with you people? Women are surely the cause of earthquakes and probably hurricanes and tornadoes, too. There is a direct scientific correlation between a woman flagrantly showing her hairline, nose, arms or legs and the shifting of the tectonic plates. With each display of promiscuity, such as the viewing of her ear, the plates shift a little more. It's a magnetic thing. The same magnetism that emits from all body parts but the eyes that directly causes men to *go astray* also pulls on the plates and they move.

Women are also the cause of global warming. Their shameless flaunting of themselves in public in various states of undress, such as t-shirts and jeans or business suits, never mind swim suits, causes men's temperatures to rise. All over the world, men's temperatures are steadily rising, thus global warming. It's all very scientific, you don't even need religion to prove it!

Mischelle S - "If these people want to cover themselves like ghosts then EVERYONE should do it"

One man's food is another man's poison. Thank goodness for choices and variety. We muslims could say the same about your dressing but been taught tolerance if people dress and behave differently from me, I will abstain from making a comment. Anyway I, in my personal capacity, have been taught as a MUSLIM to have respect for anothers' Religion, Dressing, Culture and Colour. Peace, Luv and Individual Rights to all mankind. ALLAH SWT BLESS ALL MANKIND.
