Rep. Shultz to Bullied Teens: Know You Have an Army of Friends

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the Democratic National Committee’s chairwoman, has released a video contribution to the It Gets Better project.

In the video Schultz affirms, “For anyone who is going through a tough time, for anyone who has been bullied or feels alone or different, it gets better.”

She goes on to say: “Sometimes, it’s hard to see that what we’re going through won’t last forever. When we’re in a tough spot, it’s hard to imagine that there will ever be a time when it doesn’t feel like the world is crashing in on us.”

She then continues, “But things will get better. They always do. [...] You are amazing. [...] You are worthy of being treated with respect.”

Schultz goes on to talk about her own experiences of being bullied and encourages kids to look to the future.

We need to go after the bullies and their parents. A lot of this can be the way they were raised. This is a smart lady.
