Reproductive Health Assault Becomes Law

The Bush Administration’s “conscience” rule regarding health care workers that’s been threatened for months finally became official yesterday. It’s so wide-ranging that a hospital or clinic could forbid employees from doing anything from selling antibiotics or birth control to performing abortion.

Rachel Maddow had a great segment explaining what this new rule means last night:

Does this wide-ranging rule sound like a bad idea to you? Take action by urging your representative to support legislation blocking this rule.

Do you remember when you were a fetus? People need to have the right to make these decisions for themselves. Neither you or me have the right to make such a major decision for someone else since we aren't responsible for the outcome.

Kate O-"A good option would be for people to embrace pregnancy." Yes Kate, that would be a great option, but unfortunately, that isn't reality if you care to look around and stop living in la la land. One of the big headlines is the little boy who was adopted to a family who has now been missing for 10 years after he was abused, i.e., by being chained to a bathtub and physically abused. I'm sure the mother who gave him up is really happy she embraced her pregnancy and gave her child up to a "good home".

Of course, there's Caylee Anthony found brutally killed, with the mother being the prime suspect. We don't live in a perfect world, far from it. Bible thumpers are only concerned with the fetus, yet they couldn't care less about the child after it is born. Every child is not born into Wonderland, and it's usually the innocent child who pays the price. Of course, if their mother would just embrace her pregnancy, and then love and take care of the child, that would be wonderful, but that's not reality. I don't feel I have the right to decide for others whether they have children or not. It's not my life and only they can make their own choices. I know women who have had abortions and they did not commit suicide. There are a lot of people who commit suicide that have never had an abortion, so one has nothing to do with the other. I have no memory before I was three years old, so if my mother would have had an abortion, I would not know the difference. Do you remem

Catherine-there is no "good" option when an unwanted pregnancy happens? Wow, you put so little trust in people adjusting to life and dealing with parenthood, or adoption. I know people who have had abortions, and a few of them attempted suicide, one succeeded, and it was the abortion that pushed them there.
A good option would be for people to embrace preganancy and be responsible and quit treating pregnancy as an unwanted STD. The fetus is a unique person and has his/her own DNA.
Go research abortion procedures and tell me those "procedures" are a humane thing to do to any living thing. Most people don't even know how an abortion is done and yet they make all kinds of statements about how we should all be able to have an abortion. Where is the sense?

Does this Rep. even know what she is talking about. This is the same technique Stalin and Lenin used in the Soviet Union. This group is a hidden underground of Atheism at work dialing in a successful society to civil war based on forcing one group over another. This is the media at its best to provide provocation to limited minds with something to stand for. People, stand for humanity and not its destruction, it will secure our existance. For every child executed in the name of abortion we loose one "Taxpayer" as the government should see it and the millions that are lost by this process means, that there are very irresponsible people in this country who understand how the body works but are irresponsible for their actions. Acts of violence and health are not the issue in this agenda. The sexual revolutionaries need to be accountable for their mistake and negligence. This Act would certainly change attitudes. Something that limits this behavior is good for a nation out of control.
Republicans and Democrats both practice "Killing" , so pointing a finger at the other and using flame techniques only shows the childish nature of each group. It is unfortunate that one of the best generations is leaving us and I worry there is a a final solution as Lenin and Hitler found!
Listening to these two women try to persuade minds is appauling to think that what little evidence they presumme to suggest is nothing more than speculative opinion which means they fall short of knowledge. He

It would be wonderful irony if a diligent employee of a drug store would deny King-"W" needed drugs for his health, based upon HIS obnoxious law. (Listen to the video in it's entirety)

Have some of you people ever wondered why the rest of the world shake their heads and say 'Only in America'? For a country that keeps telling themselves (and everyone else!) that it is the best country in the world, I see so many utterly backward things! Tiffany H, come on over. Here in Australia, not only is it summer, but we have free health care! Imagine that! And we are also a free and democratic country (no, the USA is not the only one!) and here one person's rights cannot infringe on anothers. Makes for a peaceful way of life. It's called common sense. Remember that?

Many of the comments have moved from the original point to a debate on religion in the U.S. People of both side must re-read the Constitution:

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Contraception prevents abortion because it a) keeps a sperm from fertilizing an egg or (b) keeps a fertilized egg from implanting.

Aborting a nonsentient lump of undifferentiated cells is preferable to continuing human population growth. The earth has a limited carrying capacity and we have been beyond the limit for decades as the current collapse of systems shows. It's better to improve conditions for sentient living things and stop worrying about concepts.

I do have a question for the pro-overpopulation folks: If life is so sacred then why do you promote eating meat? The life you take is not yours, it is your victim's. People don't need meat to sustain life or health under any circumstance. If you can use your value system to slaughter an innocent why complain when others do the same to those they don't value but you do?

Ah, the convenience of moral relativity.
