Care2 member Melissa W. has many rescue pets, mostly cats, but she writes, “I particularly love to show off my darling pit bulls! Just say no to BSL!” (BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation - you can sign a petition opposing it here.) Several Care2 staff members are currently fostering a darling rescued pit bull named Ruby, so we’re big fans
“My dog’s name is Applejack and he was at my local animal control in Wake County NC.
Three years old, he was house trained, crate trained, and well behaved but still on the short list for death due to a superfluity of pit bulls that never stops at all the shelters I know of. An adult male with no guarantee of pure breeding (though he looks it) and scabs on his front feet from nervous chewing, he was in danger.
I had researched the breed and wanted a pit bull specifically for their wonderful personalities. He has been a fabulous pet, great with our many cats, sleeps in our bed and charms everyone with his handsome face.
Now we have a younger female pit who looks like his much smaller twin – but she is another kettle of fish! A naughty little minx we have to watch carefully, but not a bit of aggression in her either. Best breed of dog there is!
- Melissa W.”
