“Personhood,” the idea of giving a fertilized egg the same rights as a regular person, isn’t just an issue that Mississippi residents are dealing with. With the movement trying to spread across the country, many are pushing for a full on federal constitutional amendment that would define life as beginning at conception — a position that wouldn’t just affect abortion, but also IVF, ectopic pregnancies and even birth control.
And is leading presidential candidate Mitt Romney in favor of that amendment? “Absolutely.”
