Santorum To Rape Survivors: Make The Best Of It By Having That Baby

Santorum To Rape Survivors: Make The Best Of It By Having That Baby

It’s a line conservatives like to trot-out when trying to soften their extreme anti-abortion stance, and this time it’s former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum’s turn.

In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan show, Santorum was interviewed rather extensively on his hardline anti-abortion views and at one point was asked what Santorum would advise one of his young daughters should she suffer the misfortune of becoming pregnant after a rape and begged her father for permission to have an abortion.

You all know what Santorum’s answer was.

Said Santorum “I would do what every father would do-to try and counsel your daughter to do the right thing.” When pressed on whether or not the “right thing” could include having an abortion Santorum replied “You can make the argument that if she doesn’t have this baby, if she kills her child, that too could ruin her life.”

Santorum added: “I believe and I think that the right approach is to accept this horribly created, in the sense of rape, but nevertheless, in a very broken way, a gift of human life, and accept what God is giving to you. As you know, in lots of different aspects of our life we have horrible things happening. I can’t think of anything more horrible, but nevertheless we have to make the best out of a bad situation. And that is making the best of a bad situation.”

That’s right ladies. Santorum’s advice is to make that lemonade out of life’s lemons, so long as “lemonade” only means forcibly carrying your pregnancy to term.

This whole argument is stupid & is only said to please the Christian right (which is neither, btw)
No father in his right mind would force his daughter to bear a rapists kid. Men would often kill men who violated their daughters.Notice how he seems to imply that she would go along with it, there'd be no change in their relationship, the wife would agree & everything would be hunky dory.Notice that there is no corresponding agreement statement directly frrom her or their daughter's mouth. I'm a Catholic & two men in our choir were talking prolife crap & I asked one of them..who has a 13y/o girl & a younger son what he would do if his daughter were raped & impregnated. HE IGNORED ME & WENT ON TALKING TO THE OTHER GUY WHO'S OLDER & HAS TWEEN GRANDDAUGHTERS . BOTH IGNORED ME. LOL !! Now you know how it is...Do as I say in public while I plan to do what I'd REALLY do in secret.
The original guy's an engineer & goes to Europe all the time to work onbig projects & undo messes caused by others. Makes great money. Enough to take a raped daughter on a "vacation" for a few weeks, take care of business, come home & deny others the same right.
That's what the well off have always done. Before Roe v Wade, I knew of several rich college girls who got pregnant & went out of the country to have abortions while a college classmate of mine...your basic middle class girl...whose birth control failed almost died from an illegal one. Human hypocri

There are many problems.. some men reason rape as natural on grounds of physical capability, other's argue sperm is valid in old age as right to reproduce.

One's a rapist, the other is a paedophile.

And abortion, something so devastating, is fodder to the argument.

Here we go again. It's a man's world, control the women and her body, women give unto your husbands, even if you don't feel like it, do what he says, give him what he wants, rape her and get away with it, force her to have the baby. A women has a right to make a decision on what she wants to do with the baby in the case of rape. I remember a women from anothe country committing suicide because she was forced by the sick ass judge to marry the man that raped her, and he felt it was the right thing to do. If it had been me, I would go to jail because I would have killed him then it's my world, he won't be in charge anymore.

Killing the baby might indeed make a woman feel worse about the situation. A wrong was done to her. Taking a child's life would be HER wrong, not the rapists. The other side of the coin, is that I have heard of the rapist getting visitation rights of a child born from rape that was not given up for adoption. And personally, I know and love a beautiful girl whose mother chose life.

When one thinks of the strict canons specially of the Catholic Church and so many situations inn the old testament, one has only to think that those are voices of individuals. Check King David, Abraham, and many others.

OMG! IS RICK SANITORIUM CRAZY!
Having been sexually attacked by someone you know might be mildly acceptable ( to possibly reproduce in the case of date rate or some college kid jumping your bones under duress ) but to have a baby by an unknown man who violates your body, not knowing you just for his own sexual sick gratification....please! He might have AIDS, he might have poor protoplasm, he might be riddled with mental issues ( for sure.) How friggin' sick is this idea?
Women have fought for 40 or more years to decide when to have a child. If GOD didn't want the idea of abortion, it would have been stopped by her. If the concept of contraception hadn't been invented, we would be so over populated, we might not be able to eat.
I can't stand this recent onslaught of government getting involved in our reproductive rights. Who wants all these babies? Really, nobody is adopting the ones we now have unless they come from good , healthy mothers. Consider the father's DNA in this. Mental illness anyone?
This man is so NOT presidential material. He is praying on the Catholic and Evangelican vote and it's so obvious. Can't he think of anything else? He needs to work with what we've got, not what we don't have yet. Come-on, get serious folks!

Another nut-case deluding the brain-dead voters...nothing much to add.

Question: who added the LSD into the Republican water fountain ?
