Santorum Wins Louisiana

Santorum Wins Louisiana

The polls have closed in Louisiana, where former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has just won the primary.  Louisiana serves as yet another showcase of the great schism in the Republican party, where Santorum continues to be popular among the southern and evangelical states, while former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney appeals to the more fiscal and less “values voters” segment of the GOP.

Santorum had been leading in the polling by double digits, to the point where Romney had hardly bothered campaigning there since his win in Illinois earlier this week.  Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who’s only wins were both southern, did try to whip up support as well, but was unable to gain much traction and still had a third place showing.

Now, all eyes turn to Wisconsin, Maryland and D.C., who all vote on Tuesday, April 3rd.  Romney is currently polling 13 points ahead of Santorum, and without any bounce from tonight’s victory it looks likely that the two will continue trading victories on a state by state basis until one of them drops out, or the convention meets in Florida this summer.

It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

Of course Santorum won Louisiana, It's as right wing religious and fanatical as he is. They both don't like women to have equal rights.

Every time I read something new about Santorum it gets creepier.

So recently Santorum attends a sermon of one preacher Dennis Terry who comes across as a terrorist with a bible. Saying things like: “Listen to me, if you don’t love America, if you don’t like the way we do things, I’ve got one thing to say: GET OUT! We don’t worship Buddha, I said we don’t worship Buddha, we don’t worship Mohammad, we don’t worship Allah. We worship God, we worship God’s son Jesus Christ.” When ask about his apparent endorsement of such a perspective Santorum tried to blow it off by saying he wasn't really paying attention to what the preacher said when he applauded him.

Anyone who claims to speak for the rest of the nation is someone to be avoided IMO and especially when that someone uses religion to sanction their opinions and superimpose them on the rest of us. Perhaps both Santorum and his zealot fans need to understand the difference between worshiping a god and playing god.

I appreciate Obama even more than before, looking at opposition.
One day we'll have a Amerindian woman in the Whitehouse, I hope, dignity for real Americans and real American culture! Until then, Obama OK!

The South is always saying it's gonna rise again. Well, not by endorsing these Repug semi-literates.

@ Carol D. -- I agree that that James' post was a little immature, BUT SRSLY-Santorum has not a chance in he%$ to beat Obama! Apparently you didn't live in PA when we were 'blessed' to have him as a senator, this holier-than-God joke of a person broke EVERY promise he made to get elected! I don't know of ANY politician that HASN'T broke at least one promise! AND, it's kinda hard to get anything done when the repugs in the house & the congress, Reject EVERYTHING he's tried to pass.
Please before you post again research ALL your facts from BOTH sides before showing any ignorance. Thank You!

I send my early condolences to anyone who voted for this man or for Romney if they win, considering what America will become if the do. I am so, so sorry you believe in this horrible man. So, so sorry.

Sorry Maggie S., not buying your schtick. A vote for an independent IS a vote for the republican. If the Tea Baggers set you up on this site for damage control, they are stupider than I thought. The majority here has a modicum of intelligence. We remember the Reich wing financing of Ralph Nader in 2000. George W. Bush was anointed by the Supreme Republican Court, he promptly ignored 52 warnings that 9/11 was coming so he could use the attack to justify going after the oil fields of Iraq.

Whatever you say about the things that President Obama could not get accomplished, he did end the fantasyland war in Iraq and the scavenger hunt for mythical WMDs that cost 4,500 lives of our brave military men and women. (Children of the poor and middles classes sent to fight and die to protect the property of billionaires). President Obama reconstituted "Alec Station" and the search for Osama Bin Laden and he pulled the trigger when the opportunity arose. (Your party let Osama go at Tora Bora so they would still have a boogie man to scare the Tea Baggers with)

One day, after campaign finance reform and the stripping away of American citizenship and personhood from multi-national corporations, perhaps there will be a third or even fourth choice in parties, but for now, A VOTE FOR AN INDEPENDENT IS A VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICAN BILLIONAIRE PARTY, and you are a paid shill that should be ashamed of yourself for selling out your country.

Just another disturbed and despicable republican. Vote them all out of office at the next opportunity.
