“Sheer Horror:” Catholic Church Castrated Abuse Victims

“Sheer Horror:” Catholic Church Castrated Abuse Victims

The Dutch Catholic Church castrated at least one and possibly ten boys abused by priests in the 1950s, a Dutch newspaper has reported. It says that they were mutilated to ‘help their homosexual feelings.’

The castrations were not include in the Netherlands Catholic Church’s comprehensive report into sexual abuse last year, despite being reported to the inquiry, because of a ‘lack of leads’ and because any reporting could be tied to identifiable individuals. That report covered abuse by 800 priests and monks between 1945 and 1985.

In the confirmed case, a teenager, Henk Heithuis, who had reported being sexually abused by priests in his children’s home to the police in 1956, was removed to a Catholic-run psychiatric institution where he was then castrated because of his ‘homosexual behavior.’ The report said that others were castrated to ‘punish those who blew the whistle on abusers.’

The report also says that a former Prime Minister, from a Catholic party, tried to get prison sentences dropped against several priests accused of abusing children, and that local government authorities knew about the castrations.

The report has led to Dutch MPs and the national organization of clerical child sex abuse victims (KLOKK) calling for the inquiry into abuse of children to be reopened.

KLOKK chairman Guid Klabbers said that the news showed that the child abuse inquiry had failed to uncover all abuses:

“We’ve had many grave rape cases, but this is even worse. This is a case of extreme abuse of power and perverse pleasure in wielding power. Sheer horror.”

The Dutch Bishops’ Conference said that the allegations, if true, constitute a grave situation which they condemn and regret in the strongest terms possible.

SO PATHETIC.

and again we hear of people corrupting that which is written in their Holy Book- I find this so disappointing, that in each Book it says live by loving thy neighbour, helping those who need it, treating all peoples equally respecting others- and over the years every single one becomes corrupted into a repressive- ugly- selfish and twisted version of what actually was written by the holy men- and women of the original community I was brought up Catholic- even went to Convent School where I was expelled for querying why God didn't do something about Biafran kids dying of starvation, and other innocents suffering in wars and fighting- the nuns told me that it was because God gave man free will, the priests said nothing so I kept asking- as I got older I left the church as I didn't like the fact that they seemed to give nothing back to their people and became a Sikh as they have a tradition that everyone is equal and everyone has to do some kind of community service- I fell in love but his parents reacted by sending his brother to India, and he married a 'more suitable' girl for him by proxy- he was married off without a chance to even think about it - and yet I know neither caste nor the fact I'm a convert should have made any difference if his parents read the book how it is- but they interpreted it their own way as do others, who use their Book to justify all kinds of unacceptable and some downright evil behaviours

Condemn, regret and do not a damn thing to correct it, to punish the priests who are guilty (whom they hide and refuse to let be punished). The people who did the castrations should be incarcerated and let the criminal population loose on them. Then we won't have to pay for their castrations as that will be taken care of for us.

People should wake up and stop giving authority to any church to tell anyone how to live one's life! Churches only create intolerance between people because of their attitude "if you don't support our faith and believes - you are against us"! That is why we have so many wars and people killing each other. God, Life, Universe, Divine Law - are all ONE and church has nothing to do with neither God or any other moral or virtue - it's all fight for power and money!

Whilst their are religions that glorify the afterlife and say that ANY sin can be forgiven there will always be religious abusers. To anybody with half a brain it's a carte blanche. The catholic church with its repressive sexual code is expectedly reknown for loads and loads of horrific abuse and they have been castrating boys for years. I do not have a religious view and I follow no god. I believe in kindness, equality, freedom from cruelty and pain and the right to expression so long as no non consenter is hurt. I also believe in strong punishment if hurt others. Religions would do well to abandon the disgraceful, ill informed, dated principles of largely unproven testimony, stop with the control and embrace some simple morality. Until we stop promising an afterlife people will not start behaving in this one. So sorry to the children involved in this and the ones that are hidden, your rapists and torturers should be seriously punished for what they have done.

Sheer horror=Religion and the control it has over countless peoples lives. I empathize with the victims and wish that they can find some sort of justice. no innocent child deserves such horrific treatment.
