Loading...Live Rabbits Used as Bait in Greyhound Racing: Shocking New Audio
For decades, greyhound trainers routinely used live rabbits and other animals to train racing dogs. In a cruel practice called “live lure training,” greyhounds would be allowed to tear these other animals apart. Trainers used this barbaric technique because they believed it caused dogs to be faster racers.
After receiving overwhelming public criticism, the National Greyhound Association claimed in the 1980s that it ended this practice. Sadly, that claim was wrong. First, news surfaced of an Arizona live lure case in 2002. Then in 2011, a Texas greyhound trainer surrendered his state license after he was caught on video using live rabbits to train dogs.
After learning of this most recent case, GREY2K USA submitted a public information request to the state of Texas asking for the live lure video footage. Our request was denied. The state did, however, provide us with a transcript of the footage. They also released an audio tape from an official hearing in which the video was played.

I believe that live lure training still occurs today in the dog racing industry, and that parts of the industry turn a blind eye to this cruel practice. Other dog racing supporters continue to rationalize live lure training. For example, just a few weeks ago, outspoken dog racing proponent Dennis McKeon wrote that it is an “arguable point” whether live lure training is cruel or not.
This is yet another reason why greyhound racing needs to end. It’s clear that the dog racing industry is simply not capable of cleaning up its act, even when it comes to something as obviously cruel and barbaric as live lure training.

Oh Tommy. People the likes of you make me physical sick! I have dreams of stripping people like you down to their birthday suit, tying them to a tree, slicking them in honey and shaking a wasps nest on them! Maybe throw in a few biting red ants.....
The problem here people, is that these sickos lack the empathy in their genetic make up. These sickos cannot help themselves, they are clearly sociopaths. The Government needs to crack down on allowing these sickos on our streets, in our parks with our children, in our shopping malls and anywhere else! They are genetically deficient and need to be medicated and institutionalized. The best way to "trap" these sickos is to have them pass a psychological test when they come in to renew their drivers license or whatever license. I don't know....just thinking out loud. And of course....just kidding about having sickos stung a few thousand times. I'm too nice for that. The after life will take you all "downstairs" where it's nice and hot! Think of it as a tropical vacation for all the naughty things you've done. Crimes against humanity do not get rewarded.
Why everybody look away when they do something to a poor rabbit. If it were a human.. they would care, but because this is only meat to them, because they lived this them as meat they don't care anything. This world is bad. Only darkness, blood and money governed the world. And nobody can do something, because you can't find more good peoples than bad.

You are a sorry excuse of a human being undeserving of life to enable such animal cruelty. There must be something in Texas' drinking water to create such monsters and strange behavior that comes out of that state. I'm disgusted that people can get away with this cruelty. Where is animal protection? PLEASE stop harming GOD's creations.

Dennis McKeon is a sick sadist if he cannot see the cruelty in subjecting a rabbit to a terrifying death from being chased and then dismembered by greyhounds.
