Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill is leading all of her Republican rivals when it comes to a head to head matchup for the 2012 senate race.† But rival Sarah Steelman is hoping to catch up soon.
And punch her out.
Talking Points Memo reports that Steelman, in an appeal to the Tea Party supporters pushing her ahead of her GOP rivals, made the violent comment at recent rally.† “Steelman, the former state treasurer whoís in a three-way race to take on McCaskill this fall, said at a tea party rally Sunday that she was ‘ready to punch Claire McCaskill out.’ The comments were captured on tape and provided to TPM. In the video, a vendor at the rally painted ‘Steelman for Senate’ on the candidateís arms and then asked her to pose for a picture. Agreeing, Steelman flexed her arms and said she was ‘ready to punch Claire McCaskill out.’ In the background, someone says, ‘yeah.’Ē
It’s just a joke though, right?† Sure.† So was “kill the Claire Bear,” which Steelman bemoaned a “liberal media” for making into a big deal.
Now it’s becoming more and more clear why Steelman didn’t know what the “Violence Against Women Act” was.† It’s because she’s too busy defending violent rhetoric as typical campaign tactics.
