The A-B-C’s of Cap and Trade: A Video

The Environmental Defense Fund released a short video that explains exactly what “cap and trade” means.

We learn how, with a cap and trade bill, the national limit on global warming pollution will get tighter each year, how the bill can have environmental as well as economic benefits, and how similar laws have already worked in other countries.

This video is easy to watch and very informative — it could (and, I think, should) be shown in elementary school classrooms. And, just as important, it’s enjoyable. I think with this video, people can start to feel like there is hope for the environment, and like a cap and trade law might make fixing global warming as easy as 1-2-3.

Watch the video and learn about cap and trade for yourself, here:

Joy, that would be Jack. I hadn't seen this in a long time, but I do remember the ongoing exchange on this thread, as can be seen in some of the previous comments.

THERE ARE REALLY TWO TYPES-OF-SCIENTIST: THOSE WHOM SEEK PAST EVIDENCE/FINDINGS AND THOSE WHOM SEEK THE FUTURE EVIDENCE/FINDINGS. WE NEED BOTH TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE TODAY - HERE AND NOW, FROM LAYPERSON-PARAPROFESSIONAL LEVEL TO QUASI- PROFESSIONAL LEVEL. ONLY TRUE PROFESSIONL LEVEL OF EACH GROUP WHO DEAL WITH "REAL" NUMBERS, FACTS AND FIGURES WILL BE CONSIDERED.

So do you doubt all science, or just this? Your teachers must be disgraced by your ignorant skepticism, considering the efforts they must have taken to educate you on what constitutes scientific fact based on appropriate research and review. There are standards followed for scientific process to prevent unfounded reporting and misinterpretation, and to doubt these makes you ignorant of what has helped advance our society through the years, the science to learn about how things work.

For an issue as significant as this, I don't see any conspiracy in hiring more staff for this research as it is best to increase the brainpower to do this work. I might need to explain the concept of brainpower, as this may be foreign to you, but those with knowledge sometimes collaborate to gain better perspective in gathering and analyzing the data they collect; with more people contributing, they can make more progress than with fewer. However, even just one qualified individual can accomplish more than one person with little or no scientific knowledge.

Whatever such grants these researchers receive are needed in order to finance their work; this is standard in science and ridiculous to be viewed as a factor to influence their results; this money pales in comparison to the political contributions that are unquestionably done in order to have an impact on legislative action in favor of the donors and often successful in doing so, regardless of what has been proven by the scientists' in
