Time to Make Real Changes for Greyhounds

Every year, thousands of puppies are born on greyhound breeding farms, destined to eventually become racing dogs at commercial tracks. They are kept out of the public eye and as a result, few of us know what life is like for these young dogs.

This video, The Secret Life of Greyhound Puppies, exposes the industry. It documents the greyhound breeding industry, and contains photographs that were taken between 2006 and 2012 by local officials, greyhound breeders and owners, at facilities in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and West Virginia.

The Secret Life of Greyhound Puppies shows greyhound puppies being tattooed at a few months of age, puppies kept outside with just small buildings for shelter, and breeding dogs enduring lives of confinement.  We believe this is simply no way to treat a dog.

Some of the photographs in this new video were taken by county officials at an Oklahoma greyhound breeding farm owned by Kay Smith, one of the largest greyhound breeders in the country. These Oklahoma photographs are being publicly released for the first time.

Greyhound breeders don’t want the public to see the realities of the dog racing industry, and tried to silence us by filing a false copyright claim against the video. We successfully responded to this false claim, however, and The Secret Life of Greyhound Puppies was fully restored by YouTube.

This is not the first time cynical tactics have been used to try to silence our advocacy work at GREY2K USA, but every time we have fought back against these tactics and won. Greyhound breeders are afraid of our work, and should be.

As long as racetracks exist, dogs will continue to be pumped out and made to suffer at racetracks. When they are no longer moneymakers, a lucky few may find homes, but this will be at the expense of other companion animals seeking adoption.

We are confident that the more people know about commercial greyhound racing, the better things will be for greyhounds. Already, we have made tremendous progress for the dogs. Since our formation in 2001, the dog racing industry has been cut in half in the United States. GREY2K USA has also passed important greyhound protection laws, including the only state-based greyhound adoption fund.  At the same time, we recognize that there is much more work left to do.

Please watch The Secret Life of Greyhound Puppies today, and then share this important video with others. Together, we can make real changes for these dogs, and move closer to the day when greyhound racing ends completely.

Please adopt a Greyhound: they are one of the most mistreated and abandoned dog breeds in the world - be it Spain, Ireland, or Asia...
Please don't give your money to breeders, save a retired racing dog's life instead.

Another pathetic tactic to make harmless pictures look bad by using somber music and a monotone narrative. That's is what is to be expected from Grey2Kissmyass! I almost feel sorry for people who believe this propaganda!

Martin Luther King Jr. is quoted as saying, “Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”

BTW Greyhound racing is NOT illegal in Canada, up until recently we had a track in Alberta and still have many race owners and breeds here.
Everyone is so convinced that greyhounds are not fed well and starved, if you starve and animal and lock it up how do you expect them to be able to run fast and be well muscled so they can perform at their best? they claim Greyhounds are abused on a regular basis, but some how they are so well tempered and sweet so some how they are the only breed of dog you can starve and abuse and they are still so friendly towards humans.
yes there are bad people and good people in every walk of life, open your eyes and see that.
Greyhounds are the nice sweet loving animals they are because of how well they are treated while growing up and racing.
If you want to see how greyhounds are actually treated go to a farm or a race track and see with your own eyes anyone can post pictures and call them abused. GO SEE WITH YOUR OWN EYES AND THEN MAKE YOUR OPINION.

Give me a break. There is nothing "new" about this video. The photographs were lifted from already public websites by the profiteers at Grey2k USA. They add a little bleak music, and beg for more money. More money for their payrolls. More money for their trips. More money for Christine Dorchak and her "husband" Carey Theil. When they tell you money donated to Grey2k USA is helping greyhounds, they are lying.
