When you walk into a children’s toy store you see a clear separation between the boys and girls toys. Pink for the girls on one side; blue for the boys on another.
Can you imagine that such a separation exists well into adulthood?
Well, take a look at the following “women friendly” (aka sexist) products to see the tired pink gender stereotypes played out for women consumers today.
1. Fujitsu “Flora Kiss” Laptop
The Fujitsu Japanese company has created a line of laptops exclusively for women that comes in colors like feminine pink, elegant white and luxury brown. According to the website, the laptop features a flip latch to easily open the display, “even by users with long fingernails.”
The laptop has other “feminine” touches like a pearl accented power button, diamond-cut stones on the caps lock key and gold trim on the keyboard. The laptop also comes with custom-designed applications including a digital scrapbook, personalized diary and daily horoscope.
Who knew women needed pearl and diamond accents to operate a laptop?
