Vegan Is The New Viagra – VIDEO

Vegan Is The New Viagra – VIDEO

Forks Over Knives is a new feature film that examines the claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods.

The film also declares that Vegan Is The New Viagra, and in a wonderful video preview, which you can see below, the movie-makers set out to prove this. Be warned: the words “penis” and “clitoris” feature largely in their conversation.

The video features Dr. Terry Mason, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Kathy Freston and Rip Esselstyn discussing the positive effects of a healthy vegan diet on the human libido. It’s pretty interesting — check it out here, and see if you agree that Vegan Is The New Viagra!

Interesting......not. Probably the one aspect of veganism I WON'T be discussing with my friends around the dinner table anytime soon. At least I now know which four minutes to press the fast-forward button on when I get a chance to check this film out :)

Does veganism really solve all world's problems and then some? I wonder... but I'll eat my meat until then.

the only one i have seen that had good results eating meat was a young fellow i knew from the niaborhood he said he had to eat only meat once a day and take lots of vitamins this was in 1971 he could not handle any carbs or veggies and he only drank water on this diet i saw him in 1982 he was still on it but would eat some carbs veggies ect. but if he got sick would go back to all meat once a day never before 9pm at night i last saw him in 1985 again he was doing good have not seen him since. so i do not know if this cure for him was a long term cure.he only ate steak or roast beef or turkey on this diet in 1971 i started to go on vegetarian diet. been on it since and last 4yrs vegan so we chose seperate paths. he had a bad colon and the doctors wanted to remove it he tried only fruit but got too weak on it maybe he went to a naturepath he would have been a vegan too he had no money and a student told him to do this

Actually Pego... one aspect of tantric practitioners is that they eat meat - so it was part of the battle in India at the time - the ascetic vegetarian celibate Brahmanic priests as opposed to the meat eating, alcohol drinking sacred sex having tantrikas. Their aim is to integrate all that is considered "impure" into that which is pure - as all things are, no matter what. Bet you can guess which camp I would pick to be in!!

I have a good friend who made a documentary on those temples and studied the history, so I have gotten a good dose of that info very recently!! Plus I have been a Buddhist tantric practitioner for years as well - we eat meat. Well, not all - many Tibetans eat meat, but some schools, like the Dalai Lama's do not - not sure if the whole school, be he doesn't eat meat.

Wouldn't it be funny if the karma is that all of us omnis and veggies having an argument here on Care2 were reincarnations of those same people have the same argument? LOL!

I will grant there are some seemingly healthy vegetarians out there - but all the ones I know have nervous system issues, immune issues, depression/anxiety issues and skin issues. It almost killed me.

As to Elizabeth - I am greatly concerned about animal welfare, and am aware that more beings die to till a field than to kill one cow. Many small furry brown eyed beings die. Birds with nests. Insects. Therefore I eat meat responsibly, locally, organically, free range and humanely slaughtered. Animals die no matter what you eat. To claim superiority as a vegan, is to be ignorant of the lives of beings just as important as a cow, a pig or us. It is the cycle of life - you can embrace it or you can deny it, but you can't escape it.

The only good thing I ever got out of a man being vegan - his ejaculate tasted better (*gasp*! That's even more risque than saying penis or clitoris!) But that was years ago - he didn't look all that healthy back then (I was an vegetarian then, as well - except of course, when I hung out with my lover ;-) ).

Aside from that, I have to go with Lynda - the false info that meat and saturated fats are what cause heart disease is going to mislead one in to equating it with erectile dysfunction as well. Excess CARBS cause atherosclerosis, not meat or animal products. We have been fed a lie for 60 years with that one. Cholesterol is a myth - people with low chol counts have heart attacks and atherosclerosis.

Susan - our systems are NOT like herbivores - we have one stomach, not 4, we have a shorter digestive tract relative to our body length, like a carnivore, and more than our teeth, our jaws and they way they move are more to the carnivorous side than the herbivorous. I would love to see a link to prove what you say about that comparison. Here's mine:

http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/carn_herb_comparison4.html

I looked up other claims that our digestive systems are closer to herbs than carns - and nobody gave any clear numbers or comparisons like this chart - and I looked up 10 different websites. It was pretty much the same info copied over and over from some guy named A.D. Andrews in his book Fit Food for Men.

I will grant there are some healthy vegetarians out
