Want a Challenge? Hotdish It Off With Al Franken

The era of bipartisanship isn’t over just because the State of the Union is.  Minnesota’s senators and congresspeople are having a little healthy competition. It’s the battle for the ultimate hotdish – Minnesotan for “casserole.”

Via The Hill:

According to a news release, the offices of Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) and Reps. Tim Walz (D), Betty McCollum (D), Keith Ellison (D) and Michele Bachmann (R) will all submit their own recipes on Wednesday as a way to “celebrate Minnesota before tackling the issues facing the state.”

Franken announced the competition on Twitter and also solicited recipes from followers:

“Think you can compete with the #MN delegation? Tweet your favorite #hotdish recipe with the #hotdish hashtag!”

Sen. Franken has always been a fan of mixing food and politics.  At Thanksgiving time, he’s well known for sending out some of his favorite family recipes, such as this one for pumpkin cornbread.

My step dad is from MN, and he has a college degree in "hot dish"... just kidding. I'd ask him what was for supper, he'd tell me "hot dish", I'd ask him what kind, and he'd still say "hot dish"... lol.
