In the wake of some of the most restrictive anti-choice, anti-family planning, anti-women legislative bills ever being introduced in state houses for the last two sessions, numerous politicians who are fed up with the Republican party’s war on women have begun retaliating. From “every sperm is sacred” bills to vasectomy bans, legislators have been drafting their own ludicrous laws in an attempt to force the other side into seeing how sexist and condescending their own attempts to legislate women’s medical decisions really are.
Now, they are coming for the pills.
In the wake of the GOP battle against contraception coverage and Plan B emergency birth control availability, one Ohio legislator is proposing that Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs be more highly regulated. Her idea? That men who need the medication must first prove their impotency, as well as have their partner agree that it is a medical issue.
Via the Dayton Daily News, “Under Senate Bill 307, men taking the drugs would continue to be tested for heart problems, receive counseling about possible side effects and receive information about ‘pursuing celibacy as a viable lifestyle choice.’ ‘Even the FDA recommends that doctors make sure that assessments are taken that target the nature of the symptoms, whether it’s physical or psychological,’ [bill sponsor Senator Nita] Turner said. ‘I certainly want to stand up for men’s health and take this seriously and legislate it the same way mostly men say they want to legislate a woman’s womb.’”
Sadly, Turner forgot to add a 72 hour waiting period to be sure he really wants to have the drug. After all, having sex is a very serious decision and should be thought about long and hard.

This is making me laugh. About time these moralistic fools get a dose of their own medicine.... so to speak. Thank you, Senator Turner!
This is great! Bills like the one introduced in Ohio should be introduced as part of any legislation concerning a woman's reproductive health. It is time to stop the madness.
Hey love to read this and because of that i get more knowledge about Generic Viagra
thanks
This is exactly the kind of pressure that needs exerted on males, by females.
A very serious business,
I would suggest adding a visual requirement, men need to see what happens in those cases when an erection last's longer than 4 hours. It is a very serious drug, with very serious repercussions if things go wrong, possible permanent harm to a penis seems like something doctors should discuss thoroughly. Men need to see that procedure so they can make a fully informed decision.
Oh, how I love this! One hopes that it will cause some of these sexist warriors to take a second look, and realize how ludicrous BOTH sides of this legislation are, and quit messing in people's personal business. (And a ten to twenty day waiting period would indeed be mete in the lady's proposed legislation...)
