1) Changes the rules on Environmental Assessment

Nothing says long term prosperity like cutting back the environmental assessment of development projects. Which projects might need environmental assessment can be left up to the Minister himself, and approval of new pipeline projects to the Cabinet — and this government doesn’t have a great track record on the science behind climate change.

A cynical Canadian would point out that these changes are probably aimed at speeding up the Keystone pipeline and new oil sands development. I am that cynical Canadian. (Our Natural Resources Minister would call me a left-wing radical).

C-38 also puts the final nail in the coffin of the Kyoto Protocol Implementation Act, but the Environment Minister had already announce d that Canada was giving up any appearance of trying to match the Kyoto targets, being, as they were, a socialist scheme).

The budget also provides for larger fines for those who break environmental laws, but the 776 job cuts at Environment Canada mean that many won’t face regular environmental reviews.

Kimberlee, we have to put up with these guys until 2015! Hopefully the Canada I know and love will not be completely dismantled by then. However, the changes Harper is sneaking in will apparently be difficult to reverse.

Harper and his REFORM party scumbags are the WORST thing to happen to Canada. Ever. Bar none.

They're out to destroy Canada & what it used to stand for. He's a criminal, traitor and he's doing everything he can to destroy the best things about this country, all the while, promoting the worst.

The guy isn't a PM. He's a threat the likes of which we've never had up here before.
